Background Information:
The Houston -Galveston Area Council (H-GAC) is a regional council of governments operating
under the laws of the State of Texas and governed by a board comprised of 35 elected officials
from the 13 county regions. The H-GAC Board awards all contracts, which can be made
available to local government nationwide through HGACBuy. All products and services offered
through HGACBuy have been awarded by virtue of a public competitive process. In the past,
there has been a need for the City of Miami Police Department to piggyback from the HGACBuy
Program Contract for Emergency Equipment and Supplies for the purchase of Speed Measuring
Devices, requiring the execution of an Interlocal Agreement between the City of Miami and the
Houston -Galveston Area Council in order to access such contract. It is therefore, recommended
that this resolution be adopted in order for the City to continue to access this program and take
advantage of its volume purchasing and discounts.
The various contracts currently under the H-GACBuy Cooperative Purchasing Program include,
but it's not limited to the following:
Ambulances and Other Emergency Vehicles
