JUSTIFICATION:
The police/fire departments have the need for upkeeping the maintenance on the 911 telephone
system from Avaya by utilizing the State of Florida Contract No, 730-000-09-09-01. This
system routes the emergency/non-emergency telephone calls from the public to any available call
taker. In addition, this system allows callers to choose from three different languages.
HOW IS THIS ITEM GOING TO ENHANCE THE QUALITY OF SERVICE TO THE
CUSTOMER / CITIZENS?
The 911 telephone system plays a critical role in the lives of the residents and visitors of the City
of Miami; therefore, it is necessary to have ongoing maintenance to keep the 911 equipment in
operating condition for the provision of Fire/Police communication emergency/non-emergency
services to the public. This upkeep will allow the City to provide its citizens with continuous
quality of service.
