A RESOLUTION OF THE MIAMI CITY COMMISSION, WITH ATTACHMENT(S),
ESTABLISHING A NEW SPECIAL REVENUE PROJECT ENTITLED: "2008-2009
OUTREACH PROJECT TO HOMELESS DETAINEES," IN AN AMOUNT NOT TO
EXCEED $85,796, CONSISTING OF A GRANT AWARD FROM THE STATE OF
FLORIDA GRANT-IN-AID PROGRAM, FOR A ONE-YEAR PERIOD, FOR
OUTREACH, ASSESSMENT, TRANSPORTATION AND PLACEMENT SERVICES
TO HOMELESS DETAINEES BEING RELEASED FROM THE MIAMI-DADE
COUNTY JAIL; AUTHORIZING THE CITY MANAGER TO EXECUTE THE
EXTENSION AND AMENDMENT AGREEMENT, IN SUBSTANTIALLY THE
ATTACHED FORM, BETWEEN MIAMI-DADE COUNTY AND THE CITY OF MIAMI
TO IMPLEMENT ACCEPTANCE OF SAID GRANT AWARD.
WHEREAS, the City of Miami ("City") has been awarded a grant, in the amount of $85,796, for the
operation of the Miami Homeless Assistance Program for 2008-2009; and
WHEREAS, the City's Homeless Assistance Program provides outreach, assessment, information
and referral, transportation and housing assistance to the homeless citizens of the City; and
WHEREAS, it is appropriate for the City Manager to accept said grant and to establish a special
revenue project fund for the appropriation of said grant award;
NOW, THEREFORE, BE IT RESOLVED BY THE COMMISSION OF THE CITY OF MIAMI,
FLORIDA:
Section 1. The recitals and findings contained in the Preamble to this Resolution are adopted by
reference and incorporated as if fully set forth in this Section.
Section 2. The following Special Revenue Project is established and resources are appropriated as
described below:
FUND TITLE: 2008-2009 Outreach Project to Homeless Detainees
RESOURCES: State of Florida, Grant -In -Aid Program $85,796
APPROPRIATIONS: operation, outreach, assessment, placement and transportation
services to homeless detainees being released from the
Miami -Dade County Jail

Section 3. The, appropriation is contingent upon the receipt of the grant from the State of Florida.
Section 4. The City Manager is authorized{1} to execute the Extension and Amendment
Agreement, in substantially the attached form, to implement acceptance of said grant award.
Section 5. This Resolution shall become effective immediately upon its adoption and signature of
the Mayor.{2}

{1 } The herein authorization is further subject to compliance with all requirements that may be imposed
by the City Attorney, including but not limited to those prescribed by applicable City Charter and Code
provisions.
{2} If the Mayor does not sign this Resolution, it shall become effective at the end of ten calendar days
from the date it was passed and adopted. If the Mayor vetoes this Resolution, it shall become effective
immediately upon override of the veto by the City Commission.
