ENCLOSURES
As per Federal Government regulations, please be informed that the City of Miami Police
Department (MPD) intends to submit an application for funds under the 2008 Edward Byrne
Memorial Justice Assistance Grant Program announced by the US Department of Justice.
A grant application for $195,848.00 will allow the Miami Police Department to equip every Public
Service Aide (PSA) vehicle with a computer laptop. These monies will cover the cost of the
laptops, installation brackets, software, licenses and a one-year warranty. Additionally, the
funding will cover most of the cost of the extended three-year warranty. The MPD's match
amount will be $20,691.40. The addition of laptop computers to the vehicles provided to these
PSAs will not only improve their productivity, but also increase the accuracy and speed in which
they obtain vital information.
An opportunity to comment on this grant announcement has been provided to the community by
posting an announcement in the Miami Police Department's official website. This notification will
remain at least until the submission date.
