HomeMy WebLinkAbout2003 Structure StudyUsing a tight hammer 1 soundedmany of the first and second floor
concrete columns The ma

removed small amounts of;interjor finishes and found the ma
columnswerekid,►"C the
spelled due to rinforving steels Using
labor and equfprnent
shed by y Miller & Solomon, .I had the finishes for
several columns on the first, second and third floors re
had an interior columnmor+>d in addition, below the first floor exposed. The results from this
phase of the investigation were as bad as my prior limited removal of
column finishes.; Concrete'colurnns on the first
ers heavily cracked arid second, arid third floors due to Nesting reinforcing steel.
The
selected demolition revealed more of the original structure, The roof,
fourth and third floors of the building are wood jotsburnt

clay
tile exterior wall concrete and
 s cvlunsrs, and interior steel
beams and wood, beama. The lower floors are supported on concrete
beams and columns and tit clay tileexterior walls.
Following my Initial site viei alithomtery (Kaco) was retained to
take concrete cores ofthe concrete columnsand make compression and
chloride tests The results of tee. tests show concrete
compressive strength of concrete between 1000
psi to 1300 psi and
chloride content that ranged fr'orn 3 lbstyd3 to 28. lnsi .
