ADDENDUM NO. 3
IFB NO. 75155 July 14, 2008
Invitation For Bid for Elevator Modernization
TO: ALL PROSPECTIVE BIDDERS:
The following changes, additions, clarifications, and deletions amend the Bid Documents of the above
captioned IFB, and shall become an integral part of the Contract Documents. Please note the contents
herein and reflect same on the documents you have on hand.
The following is the City's answers to questions received from prospective bidders:
Q1: Can you specify the payment terms for the modernization?
Al: Refer to the IFB's General Terms and Conditions Section 1.84, Terms of Payment, and Special Conditions
Section 2.8 Method of Payment for specific information.
Q2: Do cranes have to be used or can we use the service elevator?
A2: Cranes have to be used. Access through the 10th floor is restricted.
Q3: Do the lobby directional arrows remain or should we supply new ones? Walls are made of Marvel (marble), so
who will be responsible for damaged walls?
A3: New callback buttons are required. Refer to Special Conditions Section 2.22. for additional information
regarding Damages to Public/Private Property.
Q4: Where do you want the new emergency power selection switch in the lobby are?
A4: New emergency power selection switch must be placed in the fire control panel room, next to the elevators in the
lobby.
Q5: Do you want the walls in the machine room painted? We usually just paint the floors and machines in the
machine room?
A5: Yes. After the job is completed all rooms must be painted. Gray floor paint (polar sky or similar) on all floors with
white flat paint on the walls.
Q6: Do you want the plumbing of the hoist way? This is usually completed in new construction jobs, not
modernizations.
A6: Yes. Clear, plumb, and flush hoist way with variations not to exceed 1 inch at any point.
Q7: What kind of finishes do you want for hall fixtures? Also, do you want flush or surface mount hall stations?
A7: Stainless steel finish with flush mount for hall fixtures.
Q8: Where exactly do you want the monitor to be at for the manager to see?
A8: Monitor will be installed at the Maintenance Manager Office located at the northwest of the main building, 1gt
floor.
Q9: Can we get the questions and comments from other companies, as well as the answers?
A9: Yes. They are being provided via this addendum.
Q10: Can we get any changes made to the scope of work?
A10: Any and all changes to the scope of work are communicated via addendums issued and sent to all prospective
bidders who attended the mandatory pre -bid meeting.
Q11: Page 39 — Item 2 — Elevator #5 has a capacity of 4500 lbs. in lieu of 4000 lbs. Elevators #6 & #7 have 6 landing
in lieu of 7.
All: Elevator #5 has a capacity of 4500 lbs. Elevators #6 & #7 have 6 landings.
Q12: Page 39 — Section 3 — Item 10 — The existing machines should be replaced.
Al2: Proceed as per scope of work and specifications.

Q13: Page 39 — Section 3 — Item 26 — The existing hall pushbutton station operate via a key switch and the Building
Engineer stated that this was to be retained for security reasons.
A13: Proceed as per scope of work and specifications.
Q14: Page 39 — Section 3 — item 25 — The existing hall pushbutton stations are at the correct handicap heights. We
would suggest that you retain the existing boxes and install new buttons with new faceplates only. The
exception would be at the lobby of Elevators #1-#4 which would require complete new hall push button station to
contain the Fire Service Switch and Emergency Power Selection Switch. Installing new push button stations
would cause for an excessive amount of labor to cut the walls. If new stations are required (except lobby on
elevators #1-#4, cutting and patching would have to be by others.
A14: Proceed as per scope of work and specifications. Pursuant to the General Terms and Conditions, Section
1.35., exceptions to the specifications shall be listed on the response and shall reference the section. The City
will review and reserves the right to accept or reject any and all exceptions taken by the bidder.
Q15: Page 39 — Section 3 — Item 28 — the existing hall lanterns could be retained and refurbished. Installing new hall
lanterns would cause for an excessive amount of labor to cut the walls. If new ones are to be required, cutting
and patching would have to be by others.
A15: Proceed as per scope of work and specifications. Pursuant to the General Terms and Conditions, Section
1.35., exceptions to the specifications shall be listed on the response and shall reference the section. The City
will review and reserves the right to accept or reject any and all exceptions taken by the bidder.
Q16: Page 40 — Section 3 — Item 43 — These are existing in the halls.
A16: Proceed as per scope of work and specifications. Required in all cars and hall stations.
Q17: Page 41 — Section 5 — Item 7 — A crane will not work on this project as the roof is not accessible by crane.
A17: Proceed as per scope of work and specifications. Access through the 10th floor is restricted. A crane has been
used in the past.
Q18: Can access be allowed to the machine room, once again, prior to the bid closing date?
A18: Yes, a voluntary site inspection has been scheduled to allow for additional inspection of the facility. See below
for date and time.
Q19: Does the two (2) existing ATS (automatic transfer switch) have the 30 sec. delay on transfer?
A19: Yes.
Q20: Is there an empty conduit existing installed from the Main Building to the parking garage?
A20: No.
Additionally:
A voluntary site inspection has been scheduled for Monday, July 21, 2008 at 10:00 a.m. at 444 SW 2n° Avenue,
Miami, FL. (Meet in lobby). Only those vendors who attended the initial mandatory pre -bid meeting on June 20, 2008
are allowed to attend this voluntary site inspection.
The bid closing date has been changed to Monday, August 4, 2008 at 2:00 p.m.
ALL OTHER TERMS AND CONDITIONS OF THE IFB REMAIN THE SAME.

captioned IFB, and shall become an integral part of the Contract Documents. Please note the contents
herein and reflect same on the documents you have on hand.
The'closing date and time has been changed to Wednesday, July 23, 2008 at 1:00 p.m.
Another addendum will be issued in the very near future containing the answers to all the questions
received from potential bidders.
Please be advised that from July 3, 2008 at noon until July 7, 2008 at 10:00 a.m. the iMiami System
will be down for system maintenance and you will not be able to access the solicitation documents.
ALL OTHER TERMS AND CONDITIONS OF THE IFB REMAIN THE SAME.

The mandatory pre -bid meeting date and time has been changed to Friday, June 20, 2008 at 10:00 a.m.
The closing date and time has been changed to Monday, July 7, 2008 at 1:00 p.m.
