Subject: Resolution accepting funds and authorizing the City Manager to execute a Local Agency
Program Agreement for the Venetian Causeway Improvements Project, B-39911.
Purpose of Item:
Resolution accepting funds and authorizing the City Manager to execute a Local Agency Program
("LAP") Agreement with the Florida Department of Transportation ("FDOT") for the Venetian
Causeway Improvements Project, B-39911, in substantially the attached form, allowing the
Department of Capital Improvements Program ("CIP") to utilize the $1,000,000 FDOT contribution.
Background Information:
The City and Miami Dade County wish to facilitate the construction of a road improvement project, entitled
"Venetian Causeway Improvements Project", B-39911. The County will construct and administer the project.
The City of Miami ("City"), on behalf of Miami Dade County, applied for and was awarded a Transportation
Enhancement Program ("TEP") grant in the amount of $1,000,000 from the Florida Department of
Transportation ("FDOT") for the work. The County will lead this project and request reimbursement from the
City, as detailed in a Joint Participation Agreement which will be brought to the City Commission for approval
upon completion of term negotiations. This resolution accepts the FDOT funding and allows for execution of
the LAP agreement necessary for utilization of the funds. The work will consist of roadway beautification
improvements to include: roadway resurfacing, swale restoration, curbs, gutters, drainage improvements,
sidewalk replacement, lighting improvements, landscaping, signage and striping. FDOT funds will be
appropriated by separate resolution.
