Background Information: Seventeen bids were received and opened by the Office of the City Clerk on May 12, 2008, at 11:00 A.M., pursuant to formal Invitation for Bids No. 07-08-015, issued April 3, 2008, for the "Replacement of Fire Station No. 11, Project, B-60452." The Capital Improvements Program ("CIP") did an initial review of the three lowest submitted bids: 1. T C& F Builders, Corp., 2. American Building Engineers and 3. NAC Construction, Inc. CIP determined the two lowest bidders did not meet the minimum requirements as stated in the solicitation and were deemed to be non -responsive. The third lowest bidder, NAC Construction, Inc., has successfully completed projects of similar size and scope for the Miami -Dade County School Board and Miami -Dade County and both entities gave exceptional references regarding the quality and timeliness of NAC Construction's work. The City Manager is recommending that the contract be awarded to NAC Construction Inc., as the lowest responsive and responsible bidder with a bid amount of $3,024,000.00 for the scope of work and an additional owner contingency of $302,400.00, for a total contract amount not to exceed $3,326,400.00. Director Cit, Manager 1 a 1bIo8 Continued from page 1 The scope includes construction of a new Fire Station Facility for a two story, two bay apparatus building of approximately11,749 s.f and will include typical amenities for a fire station. The new Fire Station is planned to serve the fire rescue's personnel plus two lieutenants and a captain. The project includes demolition of an existing fire station, on site development including parking spaces for 15-18 vehicles, drainage, site lighting and landscaping. The Project also includes a water main improvement and new street signalization on Flagler Street. The Project is located at 5920 West Flagler Street, Miami Florida 33144.
