Re: mice P. ip Renewal Funding -Contract 803-193
Funding c m • dation
Dear MA ano:
Congratulations! The Children's Trust has approved renewal funding for the
service partnership contract, Truancy Reduction Plan/Truancy Court Program,
for FY 2008-09. The project is approved for annual funding in an amount not to
exceed $480,000.00. The amount awarded by The Children's Trust's Board is
the maximum that can be contracted, but could be less depending on the final
budget and scope of services negotiated to achieve the defined outcomes, as well
as due to overall budgetary challenges further discussed below.
The Trust is not immune from the challenging economic climate Florida faces.
County, state and school board funding sources are also being reduced. Our
overall budget this year is approximately $162,000,000 and next year is
currently estimated at $138,000,000. Constitutional and statutory changes have
reduced The Trust's tax base and impacted our anticipated revenues. We all
must live within our means. As learned recently at The Trust's Board meeting
on June 9, grants and renewal contracts were awarded consistent with available
revenues.
Congratulations, once again, on your award. The fact that you were very
successful in the implementation of Year 1 funding in this highly competitive
process is a testament to the worthiness of The Truancy Reduction Plan/Truancy
Court Project, the staff that oversee it and the support the project receives from
the Miami Dade County Public Schools and the City of Miami, and to the
anticipation we all share that you will use these public funds to the great
advantage of the children and families of this community.
Please feel free to contact Donovan Lee -Sin, Senior Manager, Community and
N -; borhood Services to discuss any questions you may have.
fully,
