Miami, FL 33130 Prevention Programs RFP #2008-08 Funding Recommendation r Ms. B Cgratulations! The Children's Trust has finalized funding recommendations for Prevention Programs for FY 2008-09. Your proposal is recommended for annual funding in an amount not to exceed $138,122. The amount awarded by The Children's Trust's Board is the maximum that can be contracted, but could be less depending on the final budget and scope of services negotiated to achieve the defined outcomes in the application, as well as due to overall budgetary challenges further discussed below. The Trust is not immune from the challenging economic climate Florida faces. County, state and school board funding sources are also being reduced. Our overall budget this year is approximately $162,000,000 and next year is currently estimated at $138,000,000. Constitutional and statutory changes have reduced The Trust's tax base and impacted our anticipated revenues. We all must live within our means. As learned recently at The Trust's Board meeting on June 9, grants were awarded consistent with available revenues, which developed and were further understood during the course of this procurement. There are no additional funds for appeals. In short, any favorable appeals will result in a reallocation of existing awards, Unfortunately, the same process was applied to out -of - school awards. We are trying to learn from that appeals process to improve this one. We understand and anticipate that some of the disappointed agencies that were not the recipients of awards and those disappointed in the amount of prospective grants will appeal. We work very hard to make our process transparent and fair. Our scoring is not perfect, and for this reason during the appeal process we provide you with our reviewers' comments so that there is a complete record. 3150 SW 3`d Avenue, 8`" Floor, Miami, Florida 33129 • Tel: 305-571-5700 / Fax. 305-857-9592• www.thechildrenstrust.org 3150 SW 3rd Ave. (Coral Way), 8th Floor, Miami, Florida 33129 • Tel: 305-571-5700 • Fax: 305-857-9592 • www.thechildrenstrust.org Fairness to all starts with our insistence that everyone adhere to strict time requirements for appeal. You must submit your appeal request within 72 hours of receiving this emailed copy of your grant award. Otherwise, in accordance with the appeal procedures set forth in the RFP, we will not honor your appeal request. As with out of school awards, we do anticipate that the appeal process will result in reallocations. We anticipate up to a 20 percent reduction in most awards to prior Trust providers, We hope to be smart about this reduction, which we hope to implement ultimately by not funding capital equipment, conference travel, snacks or meals, and by reducing costs of evaluation. Congratulations, once again, on your award. The fact that you were successful in this highly competitive process is a testament to the worthiness of your agency's proposal, and to the anticipation we all share that you will use these public funds to the great advantage of the children and families of this community.
