Subject: A Resolution designating certain areas for general public access on the College of Policing
site.
Purpose of Item:
It is respectfully recommended that the City Commission adopt the attached Resolution designating
certain areas for general public ingress and egress on the City's College of Policing site located at 400
Northwest 2nd Avenue.
Background Information:
Construction of the proposed College of Policing includes a vehicular drop-off lane along Northwest
3rd Street and street trees along Northwest 2nd Avenue. It is desirable to also include wide public
sidewalks with adequate clearances to improve public safety and comply with ADA regulations. It is
the intent that the widened sidewalks be open for general public access at all times. Since the
widened sidewalks extend beyond the street right-of-way and onto City owned property, it is
necessary that these areas be designated for ingress and egress by the general public. Designating
these areas for access by the general public will not affect the security and operation of the College of
Policing.
