Subject: Lease Agreement with Miami -Dade County for Police's use of the County's vacant building
located at 1701 N.W. 30 Avenue, Miami.
Background Information:
Miami -Dade County and the City of Miami have negotiated a Lease Agreement for the use of property
owned by Miami -Dade County located at 1701 N.W. 30 Avenue, Miami, Florida.
The Lease Agreement authorizes the Police Department to use the entire premises for its Special
Operations, except that the County shall retain an area designated for the retention of the archived files
of the Department of Health Services.
This item had been previously approved by the City Commission on September 27, 2007, but as a
Permit Agreement and having only one option to extend for one year. The County requested the
change from Permit to Lease Agreement and offered to extend the number of one (1) year options from
one to four. Therefore, the Lease Agreement is for a one year term with four options to extend for one
(1) year each, upon approval of the County Manager. The rental fee charged by the County is a total of
$1.00 per year. The City will be responsible for payment of all utilities, as well as the maintenance.
The County will retain responsibility of any replacement needs of the building not caused by the
negligence of the City. The County retains the right to access their archived Bureau files in the space
agreed to by the parties for that purpose.
