HomeMy WebLinkAboutLegislationCity of Miami Legislation Resolution CA.6 File Number: 08-00839 Final Action Date: A RESOLUTION OF THE MIAMI CITY COMMISSION CODESIGNATING SOUTHWEST 21ST AVENUE FROM SOUTHWEST 16TH STREET TO SOUTHWEST 19TH STREET, MIAMI, FLORIDA, AS "EMILIO ARECHAEDERRA WAY;" FURTHER DIRECTING THE CITY MANAGER TO INSTRUCT THE DIRECTOR OF PUBLIC WORKS TO TRANSMIT A COPY OF THIS RESOLUTION TO THE HEREIN DESIGNATED OFFICES. WHEREAS, pursuant to Resolution No. 07-0624, adopted October 25, 2007, the City Commission urged the Miami Street Codesignation Review Committee to approve the street codesignation of Southwest 21st Avenue from Southwest 16th Street to Southwest 19th Street, Miami, Florida, as "Emilio Arechaederra Way;" and WHEREAS, pursuant to Ordinance No. 12980, adopted April 10, 2008, the City Commission repealed the Miami Street Codesignation Review Committee and Chapter 54, Section 54-140, of the Code of the City of Miami, Florida, as amended ("City Code"), in its entirety; and WHEREAS, the Department of Public Works is responsible for reviewing codesignation requests and preparing recommendations for City Commission approval for codesignations; and WHEREAS, the Department of Public Works has reviewed said codesignation request and has found that it meets all the criteria as specified in Section 54-137 of the City Code for the City Commission to consider the proposed street codesignation of Southwest 21st Avenue from Southwest 16th Street to Southwest 19th Street, Miami, Florida, as "Emilio Arechaederra Way;" NOW, THEREFORE, BE IT RESOLVED BY THE COMMISSION OF THE CITY OF MIAMI, FLORIDA: Section 1. The recitals and findings contained in the Preamble to this Resolution are adopted by reference and incorporated as if fully set forth in this Section. Section 2. Southwest 21st Avenue from Southwest 16th Street to Southwest 19th Street, Miami, Florida, is codesignated as "Emilio Arechaederra Way." Section 3. The City Manager is directed to instruct the Director of Public Works to transmit a copy of this Resolution to the Departments of Police, Fire -Rescue, Solid Waste, Miami -Dade County Public Works and the United States Postal Service. Section 4.
