A RESOLUTION OF THE MIAMI CITY COMMISSION EXPRESSING DEEPEST
SYMPATHY AND SINCEREST CONDOLENCES ON BEHALF OF THE CITY OF
MIAMI AND ITS CITIZENS TO THE FAMILY AND FRIENDS OF WILLIAM "BILL"
SEIDLE UPON HIS UNTIMELY DEATH.
WHEREAS, the City of Miami ("City") grieves the untimely death of William "Bill" Seidle, who was
a highly respected businessman, longtime automotive dealership executive, and was very active in
the South Florida community; and
WHEREAS, William "Bill" Seidle was born in Lawrence, Massachusetts, raised in Philadelphia,
and after serving in the U.S. Navy during World War II, moved to Miami and worked with his
father-in-law for almost 20 years selling used cars and auto parts; and
WHEREAS, William "Bill" Seidle opened his first automotive franchise in 1969, which evolved into
the Bill Seidle Auto Group, a chain of Mitsubishi, Nissan, Hyundai, Suzuki, and other dealerships
located in Miami, Davie, and Clermont; and
WHEREAS, William "Bill" Seidle served as president of the automotive group while also managing
a warehouse where he treated and looked after abandoned pets; and
WHEREAS, William "Bill" Seidle was the patriarch of the family, and was passionate about
donating time and energy to his family and charitable causes, as he was a trustee for the U.S.
Bankruptcy Court for the Southern District of Florida; and actively volunteered with the Mahi Shrine,
the Veterans Affairs Hospital in Miami, Feed the Hungry, and Make -A -Wish Veterans organizations;
and
WHEREAS, William "Bill" Seidle was recognized by the State of Florida and Miami -Dade County
with the distinction of having a portion of Northwest 36 Street and Northwest 32 Avenue in Miami
named after him because of his commitment to the community.
NOW THEREFORE BE IT RESOLVED BY THE COMMISSION OF THE CITY OF MIAMI,
FLORIDA:
Section 1. The authorities of the City of Miami, in the State of Florida, on behalf of our citizens,
pause in our official deliberations to express our deepest sympathy to Betty, his wife of 61 years,
sons Michael and Robert, six grandchildren, colleagues and friends, and to record for posterity this
tribute to the lasting memory and contributions of William "Bill" Seidle (1925-2008).
Section 2. This Resolution shall become effective immediately upon its adoption and signature of
the Mayor.{1}

{1} If the Mayor does not sign this Resolution, it shall become effective at the end of ten calendar
days from the date it was passed and adopted. If the Mayor vetoes this Resolution, it shall become
effective immediately upon override of the veto by the City.
