Enclosed please find a May 19, 2008 letter to City of Miami Public Works Director Stephanie Grindell summarizing the public outreach and environmental educational clean-up events conducted by the MRC during the current fiscal year, as required by the City's NPDES permit issued annually by the ST, including but not limited to the creation of new publicly accessible riverfront parks, restoration of the Manatee Mural beneath the Flagler Street Bridge, tree plantings, and the removal of invasive species, litter and debris along the Miami River Greenway. Currently we are coordinating 5 upcoming volunteer events on 8/11, 8/30, 9/20, 10/12 and 11/8, which include the transformation of 6 currently vacant sites into publicly accessible green spaces along the Miami River. As you recall, the item was deferred from the Consent Agenda on June 12, and I accept the proposed amendment to the renewed draft contract, which no longer allows any of the City's funding to be used towards one staffer's salary. On behalf of the MRC, I look forward to continuing our partnership to beautify the Miami River Corridor. Since -ly, Buermann, Esq.
