A RESOLUTION OF THE MIAMI CITY COMMISSION AUTHORIZING THE
CONTINUED FUNDING OF PROTRACTED/COMPLEX INVESTIGATIONS, IN AN
AMOUNT NOT TO EXCEED $300,000; ALLOCATING FUNDS FROM THE LAW
ENFORCEMENT TRUST FUND, AWARD NO. 1019, PROJECT NO. 19-690002
AND ACCOUNT CODE NO. 12500.191602.883000.0000, WITH SUCH
EXPENDITURES HAVING BEEN APPROVED BY THE CHIEF OF POLICE AS
COMPLYING WITH THE UNITED STATES DEPARTMENTS OF JUSTICE AND
TREASURY'S "GUIDE TO EQUITABLE SHARING," AND WITH SECTION
932.7055, FLORIDA STATUTES, AS AMENDED.
WHEREAS, the United States ("U.S.") Departments of Justice and Treasury and Section
932.7055, Florida Statutes, as amended, authorize the expenditures of forfeited cash or proceeds for
certain law enforcement purposes; and
WHEREAS, the need exists within the Department of Police to conduct protracted and/or
complex investigations, which often require additional monies for such costs as the purchase/rental of
equipment and supplies, payment of confidential informants, buy monies, overtime and other
investigative support expenses; and
WHEREAS, it is in the best interest of the community and the City of Miami to continue to fund
these expenditures through monies generated as a result of seizures authorized under the U.S.
Departments of Justice and Treasury's "Guide to Equitable Sharing" and the Florida Contraband
Forfeiture Act; and
WHEREAS, funds to cover said expenditure are available from the Law Enforcement Trust
Fund, Award No. 1019, Project No. 19-690002 and Account Code No. 12500.191602.883000.0000,
with such expenditure having been certified by the Chief of Police as complying with the U.S.
Departments of Justice and Treasury's "Guide to Equitable Sharing" and with Section 932.7055,
Florida Statutes, as amended;
NOW, THEREFORE, BE IT RESOLVED BY THE COMMISSION OF THE CITY OF MIAMI,
FLORIDA:
Section 1. The recitals and findings contained in the Preamble to this Resolution are adopted
by reference and incorporated as if fully set forth in this Section.
Section 2. The continued financing of Protracted/Complex Investigations, in an amount not to
exceed $300,000, is authorized, with funds allocated from the Law Enforcement Trust Fund, Award
No. 1019, Project No. 19-690002 and Account Code No. 12500.191602.883000.0000, with such
expenditures having been approved by the Chief of Police as complying with the U.S. Departments of
Justice and Treasury's "Guide to Equitable Sharing" and with Section 932.7055, Florida Statutes, as

amended.
Section 3. This Resolution shall become effective immediately upon its adoption and signature of
the Mayor.{1}

Footnotes:
{1} If the Mayor does not sign this Resolution, it shall become effective at the end of ten calendar days
from the date it was passed and adopted. If the Mayor vetoes this Resolution, it shall become
effective immediately upon override of the veto by the City Commission.
