Hernandez City Manager Ernest WqkeDirector Departme t of Parks and Recreation DATE: SUBJECT : REFERENCES: ENCLOSURES: May 23, 2008 FILE : Authorizing an Amendment to an Agreement with Charlie DeLucca for Managing the Melreese Golf Course The Department of Parks and Recreation respectfully requests your approval and action of the Miami City Commission by a 4/5ths affirmative vote, after an advertised public hearing, ratifying, approving and confirming the City Manager's recommendation, and finding that competitive negotiation methods are not practicable or advantageous regarding an amendment to the existing professional services agreement with Charlie DeLucca or to seek a new vendor for the management of the City's Melreese Golf Course. The Department respectfully requests such recommendation, finding, and authorization in order to proceed with revising the existing professional services agreement with Charlie DeLucca for the continued operations and maintenance of the Melreese Golf Course. It is not advantageous for the City to formally seek out a new vendor to manage the Golf Course since this facility had been operated and maintained by Mr. DeLucca for many years and the city wishes to extend the terms of this arrangement so the City does not have to operated the facility or turn said operations over to vendors unfamiliar with Melreese Golf Course. For the reasons stated above, as required by the Code of the City of Miami, the Department of Parks and Recreation (1) recommends the approval of an amendment to the existing Agreement with Charlie DeLucca, and (2) finds that competitive negotiated methods are not practicable or advantageous for this purpose. Pedro G. Hernandez City Manager May 23, 2008 If these recommendations and findings meet with your approval, please indicate by signing below. This legislation item will be placed on the agenda for the June 26, 2008, City Commission Meeting. Approval isapprov EWB/EB/sb
