Subject: Authorizing the Funding of the 2008 Georgia International Law Enforcement Exchange
Program
Purpose of Item:
It is respectfully recommended that the City Commission adopt the attached Resolution authorizing a
contribution to the Georgia International Law Enforcement Exchange Program (GILEE), in an
amount not to exceed $5,000, as financial support for the 2008 GILEE programs for law enforcement
executives and officials. Funding is to be provided from the Law Enforcement Trust Fund, Award
No. 1169, Project No. 19-690001, and Account Code No. 12500.191602.883000.0000.

The Georgia International Law Enforcement Exchange Program's focus is on law enforcement
executive development and international cooperation. GILEE's extensive community
partnerships provide tangible benefits to law enforcement, corporate security, businesses and the
public.
Since it's inception in 1992, the Georgia International Law Enforcement Exchange (GILEE)
program has carried out 106 programs for 491 law enforcement executives from around the
nation and the world. GILEE has also provided 22 special briefings, seminars, workshops and
conferences on issues related to homeland security and public safety for law enforcement
officials.
The Georgia International Law Enforcement Exchange Program is an award -winning program
that relies on financial support from private sources (corporations, associations, foundations,
individuals, and GILEE graduates) and from law enforcement agencies, as well as technical and
logistical support from public organizations, civic associations and government sources.
