O. Box 4018 Atlanta, GA 30302-4018 404-413-1035 A joint project of Georgia State University and the law enforcement community in Georgia, the Georgia Israel Law Enforcement Exchange (GILEE) was established in May 1992, to help security preparations for the 1996 Olympic Games. It had the following objectives: 1) To enhance inter -agency cooperation between State of Georgia law enforcement agencies and the police force of the State of Israel; 2) To offer an educational professional program to senior Israeli law enforcement officials in Georgia, primarily in the area of community policing; and 3) To offer an educational professional program to senior Georgia law enforcement officials in Israel, primarily in the areas of counter -terrorism and drug interdiction. In June 1994, the program expanded to other countries. Thus, GILEE changed its name to Georgia International Law Enforcement Exchange. With the name change the objectives were fine-tuned to focus on law enforcement executive development and on international cooperation. GILEE's extensive community partnerships provide tangible benefits to the law enforcement community, to corporate security, to the business community and to the community at large. GILEE promotes public safety partnerships and has become a valuable asset to homeland security in the U.S. and abroad. GILEE is an award -winning program that relies on financial support from private sources (corporations, associations, foundations, individuals, and GILEE graduates), and from law enforcement agencies (via Equitable Sharing of Federally Forfeited Property), as well as technical and logistical support from public organizations, civic associations and government sources. Your support is needed to help maintain and enhance this vital program. Help GILEE's efforts with your tax deductible gift to the GSU Foundation on the attached form.
