A RESOLUTION OF THE MIAMI CITY COMMISSION, WITH ATTACHMENT(S),
ESTABLISHING A NEW SPECIAL REVENUE FUND ENTITLED: "2008
SUPPORTIVE SERVICES GRANT" AND APPROPRIATING FUNDS, IN AN
AMOUNT NOT TO EXCEED $245,093, CONSISTING OF A GRANT FROM THE
UNITED STATES DEPARTMENT OF HOUSING AND URBAN DEVELOPMENT,
THROUGH THE MIAMI-DADE COUNTY HOMELESS TRUST, FOR A ONE
YEAR-PERIOD,TO PROVIDE OUTREACH, INFORMATION, REFERRAL,
ASSESSMENT AND PLACEMENT SERVICES TO HOMELESS INDIVIDUALS;
AUTHORIZING THE CITY MANAGER TO EXECUTE THE NECESSARY
DOCUMENTS TO IMPLEMENT ACCEPTANCE OF SAID GRANT AWARD.
WHEREAS, in April, 2008, the Miami -Dade County's consolidated application to the United States
Department of Housing and Urban Development, to provide services to the homeless, was approved;
and
WHEREAS, the City of Miami Homeless Assistance Program ("Program") provides outreach,
assessment, information and referral, transportation and housing assistance to the homeless citizens
of the City of Miami; and
WHEREAS, the Program was included in the consolidated application and was awarded $251,071,
including the City's required match of $59,779, provided by the City Emergency Shelter Grant, minus
$5,978, administrative cost, retained by the grantee to total $245,093;
NOW, THEREFORE, BE IT RESOLVED BY THE COMMISSION OF THE CITY OF MIAMI,
FLORIDA:
Section 1. The recitals and findings contained in the Preamble to this Resolution are adopted by
reference and incorporated as if fully set forth in this Section.
Section 2. The following new Special Revenue Fund is established and resources are appropriated
as described below:
FUND TITLE: 2008 Supportive Services Grant
RESOURCES: United States Department of Housing and Urban Development
through Miami -Dade County Homeless Trust $245,093
APPROPRIATIONS: City of Miami Homeless Assistance Program for outreach,
information, referral, assessment and placement services to
homeless individuals

Section 3. The City Manager is authorized{1} to execute the necessary documents to implement
acceptance of said grant award.
Section 4. This Resolution shall become effective immediately upon its adoption and signature of
the Mayor.{2}

{1} The herein authorization is further subject to compliance with all requirements that may be imposed
by the City Attorney, including but not limited to those prescribed by applicable City Charter and Code
provisions.
{2} If the Mayor does not sign this Resolution, it shall become effective at the end of ten calendar days
from the date it was passed and adopted. If the Mayor vetoes this Resolution, it shall become effective
immediately upon override of the veto by the City Commission.
