HomeMy WebLinkAboutLegislationCity of Miami Legislation Resolution City Hall 3500 Pan American Drive Miami, FL 33133 www.miamigov.com File Number: 08-00599 Final Action Date: A RESOLUTION OF THE MIAMI CITY COMMISSION, WITH ATTACHMENT(S), AUTHORIZING THE ALLOCATION OF COMPASSION CAPITAL DEMONSTRATION FUND PROGRAM GRANT FUNDS, FROM THE UNITED STATES DEPARTMENT OF HEALTH AND HUMAN SERVICES, IN THE AMOUNT NOT TO EXCEED $200,000, FOR A ONE-YEAR PERIOD EFFECTIVE JUNE 12, 2008, TO THE AGENCIES AND IN THE AMOUNTS AS SPECIFIED IN "ATTACHMENT A," ATTACHED AND INCORPORATED, FOR CAPACITY BUILDING ACTIVITIES; AUTHORIZING THE CITY MANAGER TO EXECUTE AGREEMENT(S), IN SUBSTANTIALLY THE ATTACHED FORM(S), WITH SAID AGENCIES, FOR SAID PURPOSE. WHEREAS, pursuant to Resolution No. 07-0641, adopted November 9, 2007, the City of Miami received a $500,000, Miami Network for Integration, Compassion and Empowerment ("Miami NICE") Program grant, to build capacity for non-profit organizations; and WHEREAS, on April 1, 2008, a Request for Proposals to provide sub -awards to non-profit organizations was issued for a one-year period, contingent on the availability of funds, the agency having met their contractual obligations and grant guidelines; and WHEREAS, the Administration has proposed allocations as listed on "Attachment A," attached and incorporated, for the Miami NICE grant funding; NOW, THEREFORE, BE IT RESOLVED BY THE COMMISSION OF THE CITY OF MIAMI, FLORIDA: Section 1. The recitals and findings contained in the Preamble to this Resolution are adopted by reference and incorporated as if fully set forth in this section. Section 2. The allocation of Compassion Capital Demonstration Fund Program grant funds (Miami NICE), from the United States Department of Health and Human Services, in the amount not to exceed $200,000, for a one-year period effective June 12, 2008, to the agencies and in the amounts as specified in "Attachment A," attached and incorporated, for capacity building activities, is authorized. Section 3. The City Manager is authorized {1} to execute Agreement(s), in substantially the attached form(s), with said agencies, for said purpose. Section 4. B •— CITY ATT(RNEY Footnotes: {1} The herein authorization is further subject to compliance with all requirements that may be imposed by the City Attorney, including but not limited to those prescribed by applicable City Charter and Code provisions. {2} If the Mayor does not sign this Resolution, it shall become effective at the end of ten (10) calendar days from the date it was passed and adopted.
