Subject: Resolution to authorize additional services from NCI Construction, Inc. for the Orange Bowl
Storm Water Pump Station, Project B-50653.
Purpose of Item:
To authorize Amendment No. 3 to the agreement with NCI Construction Inc., which increases the
contract value by $4,730, from $378,127 to a total not to exceed amount of $382,857. The additional
work is necessary due to a Building Department requirement. The City's Mechanical Building
Inspector has requested the addition of 40 linear feet of handrail to the building roof for fall protection
around roof -top mounted equipment.
Background Information:
On April 22, 2004, the City Commission adopted Resolution No. 04-0260 approving the bid of NCI
Construction Co. as the lowest responsive bidder and executed an agreement to repair the Orange
Bowl Storm Water Pump Station. Demolition required under the original scope of work identified that
the existing roof structure was inadequate to support the radiator for the generator. Amendment No. 1
included revisions required by changes in building codes and increased the contract by $20,000 to
account for the revisions. Amendment No. 2 addressed the need to improve the existing roof in order
to support new equipment and increased the Contractor's fee by $80,000 to a total not to exceed
amount of $378,127. The $4,730 of additional work requested in this Amendment No. 3 for the
addition of 40 linear feet of handrail will be funded by the project's contingency funds.
