Since 1994 the City of Miami ("City") has received HOPWA Program funds from the United States Department of Housing and Urban Development ("U.S. HUD") and has been responsible for the implementation of programs designed to provide housing and related services to individuals living with HIV/AIDS in the City and throughout Miami -Dade County. U.S. HUD has advised the City that HOPWA funding is available for distribution, in the amount of $12,370,000, for Fiscal Year 2008-2009. On February 25, 2008 an RFP, with a due date of March 25, 2008, was issued for a one year period with the option to extend such contract for an additional year. A total of 13 responses were received from agencies and reviewed by City's Department of Community Development. Eleven of the responses were selected for recommendation of Fiscal Year 2008-2009 HOPWA Funds. The Administration recommends the allocation of Fiscal Year 2008-2009 HOPWA Funds, in the amount of $12,370,000, as specified in Attachment "A", attached and incorporated, to provide housing assistance and housing related services to low-income individuals living with HIV/AIDS.
