HomeMy WebLinkAboutR-08-0301City of Miami Legislation Resolution: R-08-0301 City Hall 3500 Pan American Drive Miami, FL 33133 www.miamigov.com File Number: 08-00552 Final Action Date: 6/5/2008 A RESOLUTION OF THE MIAMI CITY COMMISSION AUTHORIZING THE ACCEPTANCE OF UNITED STATES DEPARTMENT OF HOUSING AND URBAN DEVELOPMENT ENTITLEMENT GRANT FUNDS, IN THE TOTAL AMOUNT OF $25,406,036, IN THE AMOUNTS AS STATED HEREIN, FOR THE FOLLOWING PROGRAMS: COMMUNITY DEVELOPMENT BLOCK GRANT, HOME INVESTMENT PARTNERSHIPS, AMERICAN DREAM DOWNPAYMENT INITIATIVE, HOUSING OPPORTUNITIES FOR PERSONS WITH AIDS, AND THE EMERGENCY SHELTER GRANT, FOR FISCAL YEAR 2008-2009; AUTHORIZING THE CITY MANAGER TO EXECUTE THE NECESSARY DOCUMENTS TO IMPLEMENT THE ACCEPTANCE OF SAID GRANT FUNDS FOR SAID PURPOSE. WHEREAS, the United States Department of Housing and Urban Development ("U.S. HUD") has advised the City of Miami ("City") of the entitlement grants to be received by the City under the following programs: Community Development Block Grant ("CDBG"), Home Investment Partnerships ("HOME"), American Dream Downpayment Initiative ("ADDI"), Housing Opportunities For Persons With AIDS ("HOPWA"), and the Emergency Shelter Grant ("ESG"); and WHEREAS, funds to be granted to the City under said programs are: (1) $8,169,495 to the CDBG Program, (2) $4,475,258 to the HOME Program (3) $27,682 to the ADDI Program (4) $12,370,000 to the HOPWA Program, and (5) $363,601 to the ESG Program; and WHEREAS, the Administration recommends accepting U.S. HUD Entitlement Grant Funds, in the total amount of $25,406,036, as stated herein, for said programs for Fiscal Year 2008-2009; NOW, THEREFORE, BE IT RESOLVED BY THE COMMISSION OF THE CITY OF MIAMI, FLORIDA: Section 1. The recitals and findings contained in the Preamble to this Resolution are adopted by reference and incorporated as if fully set forth in this Section. Section 2. The acceptance of entitlement grant funds from U.S. HUD, in the total amount of $25,406,036, in the amounts as stated herein, for the following programs, is authorized: (1) $8,169,495, to the CDBG Program, (2) 4,475,258, to the HOME Program, (3) $27,682, to the ADDI Program, (4) $12,370,000, to the HOPWA Program, and (5) $363,601 to the ESG Program. Section 3. The City Manager is authorized{1} to execute the necessary documents to implement the acceptance of said grant funds for said purpose. Section 4. This Resolution shall become effective immediately upon its adoption and signature of the Mayor.{2} City of Miami Page 1 of 2 File Id: 08-00552 (Version: 11 Printed On: 5/4/2017 File Number: 08-00552 Enactment Number: R-08-0301 Footnotes: {1} The herein authorization is further subject to compliance with all requirements that may be imposed by the City Attorney, including but not limited to those prescribed by the City Attorney, including but not limited to those prescribed by applicable City Charter and Code provisions. {2} If the Mayor does not sign this Resolution, it shall become effective at the end of ten (10) calendar days from the date it was passed and adopted. If the Mayor vetoes this Resolution, it shall become effective immediately upon override of the veto by the City Commission.
