HomeMy WebLinkAboutSummary FormAGENDA ITEM SUMMARY FORM FILE ID: OVO Date: 5/13/2008 Requesting Department: City Manager Commission Meeting Date: 5/22/2008 District Impacted: Various Type: ® Resolution ❑ Ordinance ❑ Emergency Ordinance n Discussion Item ❑ Other Subject: Resolution authorizing non binding Memorandum of Understanding regarding leasing a portion of Museum Park (Bicentennial Park) Purpose of Item: The resolution approves the terms and authorizes the City Manager to execute the memorandum of understanding in substantially the attached form, between the City of Miami, Miami -Dade County, the Miami Sports and Exhibition Authority, the Miami Arts Museum of Dade County Association, Inc., the Museum of Science, Inc. and the Historical Association of Southern Florida, Inc., for the implementation of the Museum Park Project in Bicentennial Park.The MOU is a non -binding agreement which expresses the intent of the parties and establishes the basic terms of certain definitive documents which will be brought back to the Commission and the MSEA board, including the Lease, the Subleases, a Master Management Agreement. lir Background Information: The MOU facilitates the Museum Component, consisting of the MAM building, the MSM building (which will provide space to the HASF) and Museum parking, and provides that each museum will develop its own facility, each on four (4) acres of land (collectively, the "Museum Parcels"), as contemplated in the Master Plan approved by the City Commission on March 13, 2008. Furthermore, the City should lease (the "Lease") the Museum Parcels to the Miami Sports and Exhibition authority ("MSEA"), which in turn will sublease the parcels to the Museums.
