Dear Ms. Fernandez:
This law firm represents Camillus House, Inc. ("Camillus") regarding the above -referenced
matter. On May 24, 2007, the City Commission approved the Resolution granting Camillus House a
substantial modification to its previous Special Exception approval_ Camillus requests a one year
extension of time based on a number of factors which have delayed Camillus' ability to obtain a
building permit.
The subject property ("Property") is part of an Exchange Agreement between the State of
Florida and the University of Miami ("UM"). The Property is comprised of two parcels: The
western portion, or Glass House parcel, is owned by UM and the eastern portion, or the FDOT South
parcel, is owned by FDOT. When the Exchange Agreement is complete, both parcels will be owned
by the Board of Trustees of the Internal Improvement Trust Fund of the State of Florida ("BOT").
The Department of Children and Families ("DCF") will lease the Property from BOT, and Camillus
will have a sub -lease on the Property from DCF. The required joinders from UM and FDOT
consenting to this request are attached.
The State of Florida, UM and Camillus have diligently worked towards closing on the
Exchange Agreement during the past year. Nearly all title issues have been resolved and the parties
hope to close in the next several months. Once Camillus obtains its sublease, it will be able to
proceed with obtaining the required building permit. In anticipation of this occurring, Camillus has
continued to proceed with the required architectural and other consultant work in order to apply for
the building permit as soot: as possible after obtaining the sublease. We therefore request a one year
extension of time for the Resolution.

This letter is in response to your request to provide your client Camillus 1-louse, Inc. ("Camillus
House"), with an authorization to file an application for an extension of time for the above -
referenced Resolution which grants substantial modification to Special Exception on the property
presently under control of the University of Miami, as described in the attached Legal
Description (the "Glass Building Property").
It is our understanding that Camillus House will enter- into a sublease for the Glass Building
Property, which after the land swap will be under the control of a state agency, to be used for the
purposes approved by the Resolution. Because the Special Exception Application and the
Request for Extension of Tirne require the owner to be a co -applicant, you have requested that
;ye consent to and join in the above -referenced Request.
Therefore, this letter serves as the official consent and joinder of the University of Miami for
Camillus House to file the Request for an extension of time for the Resolution.
For and in consideration of UM's consent and joinder for Camillus House to file the Request,
Camillus House agrees to indemnify, defend (by counsel acceptable to the University) and hold
the University (the "University" shall be deemed to include its trustees, officers, employees,
agents, representatives and attorneys) harmless from and against any and all claims, suits, causes
of actions, expenses, losses and/or damages, including reasonable attorney's fees at all levels,
resulting from or arising out of the filing of the applications by the University for the Special
Exception on behalf of Camillus House.
