Purpose of Item:
A RESOLUTION OF THE MIAMI CITY COMMISSION AUTHORIZING THE ACCEPTANCE
OF A GRANT FROM THE SOUTHEAST OVERTOWN/PARK WEST AND OMNI
REDEVELOPMENT DISTRICT COMMUNITY REDEVELOPMENT AGENCIES, IN AN
AMOUNT NOT TO EXCEED $343,392, FOR A POLICE VISIBILITY PILOT PROGRAM FOR
THE SOUTHEAST OVERTOWN/PARK WEST AND OMNI REDEVELOPMENT AREAS;
AUTHORIZING THE CITY MANAGER TO EXECUTE - THE GRANT AGREEMENT AND ALL
DOCUMENTS NECESSARY FOR SAID PURPOSE
Background Information:
On February 25, 2008, the City of Miami Police Department presented to the Community
Redevelopment Agencies' Boards of Commissioners its Police Visibility Pilot Program ("Pilot
Program"), an innovative community policing plan to address quality of life issues in the
Redevelopment Areas. They requested a grant, in the amount of $343,392, to underwrite a portion of
the costs associated with the implementation of this Pilot Program and the grant was awarded by the
Board on April 28, 2008. City Commission approval is required for the acceptance of any grant
award exceeding $25,000.
