HomeMy WebLinkAboutSummary Fact SheetPOLICE AGENDA ITEM SUMMARY FACT SHEET JUSTIFICATION: The Florida Department of Transportation Aggressive Driving grant will fund the purchase of two unmarked vehicles along with equipment such as traffic radar & lasers, to address aggressive driving in the City of Miami. The offenses that will be targeted include violations of Florida's Aggressive careless driving Statute (316.1923), red light running, speeding, and DUI. HOW IS THIS ITEM GOING TO ENHANCE THE QUALITY OF SERVICE TO THE CUSTOMER / CITIZENS? The use of unmarked non traditional police vehicles for traffic enforcement of aggressive driving and related offenses will enable the police department to proactively address aggressive driving and impact the number of traffic crashes in the City of Miami. FUNDING SOURCE: COMMENTS: Grant TOTAL EXPENDITURE: $127,334.00 Funding from this grant will be used for the purchase of two unmarked vehicles, a Variable Message sign & trailer, electronic citation writers, traffic radar, traffic laser, in -car police radios, in -car computer stands and docking ports, in -car license scanners and emergency lights and siren for both vehicles.
