HomeMy WebLinkAboutR-08-0256City of Miami Legislation Resolution: R-08-0256 City Hall 3500 Pan American Drive Miami, FL 33133 www.miamigov.com File Number: 08-00430 Final Action Date: 5/8/2008 A RESOLUTION OF THE MIAMI CITY COMMISSION, WITH ATTACHMENT(S), ESTABLISHING A NEW SPECIAL REVENUE PROJECT ENTITLED: "FISCAL YEAR 2008 DEPARTMENT OF HOMELAND SECURITY, FEDERAL EMERGENCY MANAGEMENT AGENCY ("FEMA"), URBAN SEARCH AND RESCUE ("USAR") COOPERATIVE AGREEMENT,CONSISTING OF A GRANT FROM THE DEPARTMENT OF HOMELAND SECURITY, FEMA, TO BE USED BY THE DEPARTMENT OF FIRE -RESCUE, FOR THE EXPENDITURE OF LOCAL GOVERNMENT UNIT FUNDING FOR THE FLORIDA USAR TASK FORCES, TO ACQUIRE EQUIPMENT AND TO PROVIDE TRAINING IN APPROVED USAR TRAINING COURSES, IN THE AMOUNT OF $1,030,179; AUTHORIZING THE CITY MANAGER TO ACCEPT SAID GRANT AWARD AND TO EXECUTE THE NECESSARY DOCUMENTS, TO IMPLEMENT THE ACCEPTANCE OF SAID GRANT AWARD. WHEREAS, the City of Miami ("City") has been awarded a grant, in the amount of $1,030,179, from the Department of Homeland Security, Federal Emergency Management Agency ("FEMA"); and WHEREAS, pursuant to grant stipulations, said funds will be used by the Department of Fire -Rescue for the acquisition of specialized equipment, provide training, management, and the administration of the South Florida Urban Search and Rescue ("USAR") Program; and WHEREAS, it is appropriate for the City Commission to authorize the City Manager to accept said grant and to establish a special revenue fund for the appropriation of said grant award; NOW, THEREFORE, BE IT RESOLVED BY THE COMMISSION OF THE CITY OF MIAMI, FLORIDA: Section 1. The recitals and findings contained in the Preamble to this Resolution are adopted by reference and incorporated as if fully set forth in this Section. Section 2. The following new Special Revenue Fund is established and resources are appropriated as described below: FUND TITLE: Fiscal Year 2008 Department of Homeland Security, FEMA USAR Cooperative Agreement RESOURCES: Department of Homeland Security, $1,030,179 FEMA City of Miami Page 1 of 2 File Id: 08-00430 (Version: 11 Printed On: 5/3/2017 File Number: 08-00430 Enactment Number: R-08-0256 APPROPRIATIONS: $1,030,179 Section 3. The City Manager is authorized{1} to execute the necessary documents, to implement the acceptance of said grant award. Section 4. This Resolution shall become effective immediately upon its adoption and signature of the Mayor.{2} Footnotes: {1} The herein authorization is further subject to compliance with all requirements that may be imposed by the City Attorney, including but not limited to those prescribed by applicable City Charter and Code provisions. {2} If the mayor does not sign this Resolution, it shall become effective at the end of ten calendar days from the date it was passed and adopted. If the Mayor vetoes this Resolution, it shall become effective immediately upon override of the veto by the City Commission.
