Dear Comm. Gonzalez, Regalado, Sanchez, Sarnoff, and Spence -Jones:
I am unable to stay and participate in today's public hearing on the Miami 21
change order. So I thank you for this opportunity to present my thoughts in
writing, to be entered into the public record. (-z-L-; ✓'h /)
Commissioners, as you know, hundreds of citizens have attended dozens of
Miami 21 meetings over the past three years. This includes homeowners,
business owners, developers, architects, attorneys and activists, from many
different backgrounds and ideologies. Yet, we all share valid concerns,
unanswered questions, and unresolved issues regarding Miami 21.
Our City is made up of many diverse, well -established neighborhoods. It is
obvious that Miami 21 cannot be "one size fits all." In addition, the first quadrant
has been asked to be the "guinea pig" in an experiment of this magnitude and
complexity.
Before any more money, time, and effort are wasted, it is our hope that the City
decision -makers stop Miami 21. The wiser, clearer alternative is to improve the
existing code instead. Please listen to the well-informed masses, including the
prominent Miami Chapter of the American Institute of Architects, who informed
you of the recently passed resolution to deny Miami 21.
Thank you for doing the right thing for our entire "Magic City,"
Jtk,„
