HomeMy WebLinkAboutLegislationCity of Miami Legislation Resolution City Hall 3500 Pan American Drive Miami, FL 33133 www.miamigov.com File Number: 08-00438 Final Action Date: A RESOLUTION OF THE MIAMI CITY COMMISSION, WITH ATTACHMENT(S), AUTHORIZING THE TRANSFER OF 33RD YEAR COMMUNITY DEVELOPMENT BLOCK GRANT FUNDS, IN THE AMOUNT OF $10,000, FROM THE CITY OF MIAMI DEPARTMENT OF COMMUNITY DEVELOPMENT PUBLIC SERVICE RESERVE ACCOUNT FOR DISTRICT 5; ALLOCATING SAID FUNDS, TO FANM AYISYEN NAN MIYAMI, INC., TO CONTINUE TO PROVIDE PUBLIC SERVICE ACTIVITIES, AS SPECIFIED IN EXHIBIT "A," ATTACHED AND INCORPORATED; AUTHORIZING THE CITY MANAGER TO EXECUTE AN AMENDMENT TO THE EXISTING AGREEMENT, IN SUBSTANTIALLY THE ATTACHED FORM, WITH SAID AGENCY, FOR SAID PURPOSE. WHEREAS, Fanm Ayisyen Nan Miyami, Inc. ("FANM") is a not -for -profit organization, located at 8325 Northeast 2nd Avenue, Miami, Florida, which empowers Haitian women and their families both socially and economically and facilitates their adjustment to South Florida and the United States; and WHEREAS, FANM offers programs that provide youth and after school services to children between the ages of 6 and 15 years of age, residing in low to moderate income households in the City of Miami ("City"); and WHEREAS, pursuant to Resolution No. 07-0314, adopted June 12, 2007, the Miami City Commission approved the allocation of 33rd year Community Development Block Grant ("CDBG") funding, in the amount of $28,263, to FANM to provide public service activities beginning October 1, 2007; and WHEREAS, said resolution also allocated CDBG funding, in the amount of $70,296, to the City Department of Community Development Public Service Reserve Account for District 5; and WHEREAS, FANM requested additional funding to continue to provide public service activities as specified in exhibit "A," attached hereto; and WHEREAS, the Administration recommends the transfer of 33rd year CDBG funding, in the amount $10,000, from the City Department of Community Development Public Service Reserve Account for District 5, to FANM to continue to provide public service activities, as specified in said exhibit; NOW, THEREFORE, BE IT RESOLVED BY THE COMMISSION OF THE CITY OF MIAMI, FLORIDA: Section 1. The recitals and findings contained in the Preamble to this Resolution are adopted by reference and incorporated as if fully set forth in this Section. Section 2. The transfer of 33rd year CDBG funds, in the amount of $10,000, from the City City of Miami Page 1 of 2 Printed On: 4/21/2008 File Number: 08-00438 Department of Community Development Public Service reserve account for District 5, and the allocation of said funds to FANM,as specified in Exhibit "A," attached and incorporated, is authorized. Section 3. The City Manager is authorized{1 } to execute an Amendment to the existing Agreement, in substantially the attached form, with said agency for said purpose. Section 4. This Resolution shall become effective immediately upon its adoption and signature of the Mayor.{2} APPROVED AS TO FORM AND CORRECTNESS: JULIE O. BRIk CITY ATTORNEY Footnotes: {1) The herein authorization is further subject to compliance with all requirements that may be imposed by the City Attorney, including but not limited tot hose prescribed by applicable City Charter and Code provisions. {2} If the Mayor does not sign this Resolution, it shall become effective at the end of ten (10) calendar days from the date it was passed and adopted.
