For: May 8, 2008 City Commission Agenda It is respectfully recommended that the Miami City Commission adopt the attached Resolution authorizing the Bayfront Park Management Trust to negotiate an agreement with Eventstar for the use of the Southeast corner of Bicentennial Park, pursuant to the recommendation made by the Bayfront Park Procurement Committee, a recommendation which was subsequently approved by the Trust and the City Manager. BACKGROUND The Bayfront Park Management Trust (Trust) manages Bayfront and Bicentennial Parks with the goal of ensuring maximum community participation. At the Trust's request, the City of Miami Procurement Department issued a Request for Letters of Interest (RFLI) to solicit proposals to plan for the use of the Southeast corner of Bicentennial Park. For this purpose, RFLI No. 75049 was issued on February 13, 2008, and two (2) responses were received. One proposal was deemed unresponsive by the City of Miami Purchasing Department. The Evaluation Committee ("Committee"), appointed by the Chairperson of the Trust and approved by the City Manager, met on March 24, 2008, at which time they evaluated the proposal received. The Committee voted unanimously to recommend that the Trust authorize the Executive Director to negotiate an agreement with Eventstar for the use of the southeast corner of Bicentennial Park. The proposed use includes the erection of a 25,000 square foot modular temporary structure to serve as a venue for corporate functions/meetings, private and public special events and tradeshows, supporting documents attached hereto. • Thank you.
