Purpose of Item: To authorize Amendment No. 2 to the agreement with NCI Construction Inc., which increases the contract value by $199,253.65 from $252,047 to a total amount not to exceed $451,300.65. The additional fees are based on a proposal from the Contractor for work that was not included in the initial scope of work. The additional work is required to allow the pump station to operate during power outages. Background Information: Pursuant to Bid No. B-5650B, issued on February 4, 2004, the City selected NCI Construction Inc. as the lowest responsive bidder and executed an agreement to repair the Lawrence Storm Water Pump Station. The work includes: labor, materials and equipment required to perform the work described in the Contract Documents. The Pump Station currently does not have emergency back up power. This amendment will add the required scope of work to allow for back up power. The existing purchase order for $252,047 will be increased by $199,253.63 to a total amount not to exceed $451,300.65 if this resolution is approved and the amendment executed.
