HomeMy WebLinkAboutR-08-0235City of Miami Legislation Resolution: R-08-0235 City Hall 3500 Pan American Drive Miami, FL 33133 www.miamigov.com File Number: 08-00484 Final Action Date: 5/8/2008 A RESOLUTION OF THE MIAMI CITY COMMISSION, WITH ATTACHMENT(S), AUTHORIZING THE CITY MANAGER TO EXECUTE A PROFESSIONAL SERVICES AGREEMENT, IN SUBSTANTIALLY THE ATTACHED FORM, WITH THE CENTER FOR NON-PROFIT EFFECTIVENESS, RELATING TO THE MAYOR'S FAITH -BASED INITIATIVE, AS A CONDITION OF THE MIAMI NETWORK FOR INTEGRATION, COMPASSION AND EMPOWERMENT COMPASSION CAPITAL DEMONSTRATION FUND PROGRAM GRANT AWARD, FROM THE UNITED STATES DEPARTMENT OF HEALTH AND HUMAN SERVICES, PURSUANT TO RESOLUTION NO. 07-0641, ADOPTED NOVEMBER 9, 2007, IN THE ANNUAL AMOUNT OF $134,773, FOR A ONE (1) YEAR PERIOD, WITH THE OPTION TO RENEW FOR (2) ADDITIONAL ONE-YEAR PERIODS; ALLOCATING FUNDS FROM SPECIAL REVENUE PROJECT 15500.101000.531000.0000.00000. WHEREAS, the City of Miami ("City") was awarded a grant, in the amount of $500,000 per year, for the funding of the Miami Network for Integration, Compassion and Empowerment ("Miami NICE") Program, a capacity -building program for faith -based and community organizations ("FCBOs") in the community; and WHEREAS, the Miami NICE grant will help FCBOs improve program effectiveness and organizational management, improve ability to access and manage funds from diverse sources, develop and train staff, expand the types and reach of social services programs, and develop promising collaborations among organizations dedicated to social service delivery; and WHEREAS, the City will partner with social service providers for the Miami NICE program, including the Center on Non -Profit Effectiveness ("C-ONE"); and WHEREAS, the grant budget provides for an amount of $134,773 annually for C-ONE to provide program oversight, management of programmatic assessment, matching of agency training and developmental needs with appropriate products and services, required as a condition of said grant; and WHEREAS, said grant is awarded for a period of three years, beginning September 30, 2007 through September 29, 2010; and WHEREAS, it is appropriate for the City Manager to execute a Professional Services Agreement ("PSA") between the City and C-ONE, to provide certain services as a condition of the grant; NOW, THEREFORE, BE IT RESOLVED BY THE COMMISSION OF THE CITY OF MIAMI, FLORIDA: Section 1. The City Manager is authorized{1} to execute a PSA, in substantially the attached form, with C-ONE, relating to the Mayor's faith -based initiative, as a condition of the Miami NICE City of Miami Page 1 of 2 File Id: 08-00484 (Version: 21 Printed On: 5/3/2017 File Number: 08-00484 Enactment Number: R-08-0235 Demonstration Fund Program grant award, from the United States Department of Health and Human Services, pursuant to Resolution No. 07-0641, adopted November 9, 2007, in the annual amount of $134,773, for a one (1) year period, with the option to renew for (2) additional one-year periods, with funds allocated from Special Revenue Project 15500.101000.531000.0000.00000. Section 2. This Resolution shall become effective immediately upon its adoption and signature of the Mayor.{2} Footnotes: {1} The herein authorization is further subject to compliance with all requirements that may be imposed by the City Attorney, including but not limited to those prescribed by applicable City Charter and Code provisions. {2} If the Mayor does not sign this Resolution, it shall become effective at the end of ten calendar days from the date it was passed and adopted. If the Mayor vetoes this Resolution, it shall become effective immediately upon override of the veto by the City Commission.
