AN ORDINANCE OF THE MIAMI CITY COMMISSION AMENDING CHAPTER
38/ARTICLE I OF THE CODE OF THE CITY OF MIAMI, FLORIDA, AS AMENDED,
TITLED "PARKS AND RECREATION/IN GENERAL," BY CREATING SECTION 38-37,
TITLED "NAMING OF EAST SHENANDOAH PARK" TO PROVIDE FOR THE NAMING
OF THE PARCEL OF LAND CONSISTING OF APPROXIMATELY 7,692 SQUARE
FEET LOCATED AT 1320 SOUTHWEST 21ST STREET, MIAMI, FLORIDA, AND
OTHER CONTIGUOUS PARCELS THAT MAY BE ADDED IN THE FUTURE AS "EAST
SHENANDOAH PARK"; FURTHER DIRECTING THE CITY MANAGER TO TAKE ANY
AND ALL ACTIONS NECESSARY TO EFFECTUATE THE NAMING OF THE PARK;
CONTAINING A SEVERABILITY CLAUSE; AND PROVIDING FOR AN IMMEDIATE
EFFECTIVE DATE.

FEET LOCATED AT 1320 SOUTHWEST 21ST STREET, MIAMI, FLORIDA, AND
OTHER CONTIGUOUS PARCELS THAT MAY BE ADDED IN THE FUTURE AS "EAST
SHENANDOAH PARK"; FURTHER DIRECTING THE CITY MANAGER TO TAKE ANY

WHEREAS, the City of Miami ("City") owns a parcel of land consisting of approximately
7,692 square feet located at 1320 Southwest 21 Street, Miami, Florida, Folio No. 01-4111-008-
0015 ("Property"); and
WHEREAS, the City is dedicated to providing recreational opportunities and green
spaces for its residents; and
WHEREAS, after careful consideration, the City has determined that the Property is
ideal for the creation of a public park that will cater to the diverse recreational needs of the
community; and
WHEREAS, the proposed public park will be designed to provide a welcoming and
enjoyable environment for residents and visitors alike, including planned spaces dedicated to a
dog -friendly area and areas for fitness and recreational activities; and
WHEREAS, the establishment of this public park aligns with the City's commitment to
enhancing the quality of life for its residents by offering accessible and well -maintained
recreational facilities; and
WHEREAS, the City Commission, in recognition of the importance of this park and the
desires of the community, has determined that it is fitting and appropriate to formally name the
Property as "East Shenandoah Park";
NOW, THEREFORE, BE IT ORDAINED BY THE COMMISSION OF THE CITY OF
MIAMI, FLORIDA:
Section 1. The recitals and findings contained in the Preamble to this Ordinance are
adopted by reference and incorporated as if fully set forth in this Section.

Section 2. Chapter 38/Article I of the Code of the City of Miami, Florida, as amended, is
further amended as follows:1
"CHAPTER 38
PARKS AND RECREATION
ARTICLE I. IN GENERAL
Sec. 38-37. Naming of East Shenandoah Park.
a. The parcel of land consisting of approximately 7,692 square feet located at 1320
Southwest 21 Street, Miami, Florida, and other contiguous parcels that may be added in
the future shall be named "East Shenandoah Park."

Section 3. The City Manager is directed to take any and all actions necessary to
effectuate the naming of the Park.
Section 4. If any section, part of a section, paragraph, clause, phrase, or word of this
Ordinance is declared invalid, the remaining provisions of this Ordinance shall not be affected.
Section 5. This Ordinance shall become effective immediately after final reading and
signature of the Mayor.2

effective immediately upon override of the veto by the City Commission or upon the effective date stated
herein. whichever is later.
