A RESOLUTION OF THE MIAMI CITY COMMISSION, WITH ATTACHMENT(S),
AUTHORIZING THE CITY MANAGER TO SUBMIT AN APPLICATION FOR GRANT
FUNDING TO THE FLORIDA DEPARTMENT OF AGRICULTURE AND CONSUMER
SERVICES, DEPARTMENT OF FORESTRY 2008 URBAN AND COMMUNITY
FORESTRY GRANT PROGRAM, IN SUBSTANTIALLY THE ATTACHED FORM, IN
AN AMOUNT NOT TO EXCEED $10,000, IN SUPPORT OF THE GREEN MIAMI
PUBLIC EDUCATION CAMPAIGN FOR TREE PLANTING AND URBAN FORESTRY
("PROJECT"); AUTHORIZING THE ALLOCATION OF THE CITY OF MIAMI'S
REQUIRED MATCHING FUNDS FOR FIFTY PERCENT (50%) OF THE PROJECT
COSTS, IN AN AMOUNT NOT TO EXCEED $10,000, FROM THE TREE TRUST
FUND, FORA TOTAL PROJECT COST OF $20,000; FURTHER AUTHORIZING THE
CITY MANAGER TO EXECUTE THE NECESSARY DOCUMENTS TO IMPLEMENT
SAID GRANT APPLICATION.
WHEREAS, the City of Miami ("City") wishes to continue public education for tree planting and
urban forestry ("Project"); and
WHEREAS, the Project is consistent with the goals of improving the tree canopy and the Citywide
Tree Master Plan; and
WHEREAS, the City wishes to apply to the Florida Department of Agriculture and Consumer
Services, Division of Forestry for grant funding in an amount not to exceed $10,000 (50% of the
Project cost);
NOW, THEREFORE, BE IT RESOLVED BY THE COMMISSION OF THE CITY OF MIAMI,
FLORIDA:
Section 1. The recitals and findings contained in the Preamble to this Resolution are adopted by
reference and incorporated as if fully set forth in this Section.
Section 2. The City Manager is authorized{1} to submit an application for grant funding to the
Florida Department of Agriculture and Consumer Services, Department of Forestry 2008 Urban and
Community Forestry Grant Program, in substantially the attached form, in an amount not to exceed
$10,000, in support of the Green Miami Public Education Campaign for Tree Planting and Urban
Forestry ("Project").
Section 3. The allocation of the City's required matching funds for fifty percent (50%) of the
Project costs, in an amount not to exceed $10,000, from the Tree Trust Fund, for a total Project cost
of $20,000, is authorized.
Section 4. The City Manager is further authorized{1}to execute the necessary documents to

implement said grant application.
Section 5. This Resolution shall become effective immediately upon its adoption and signature of
the Mayor. {2}
Footnotes:
{1} The herein authorization is further subject to compliance with all requirements that may be
imposed by the City Attorney, including but not limited to those prescribed by applicable City Charter
and Code provisions.
{2} If the Mayor does not sign this Resolution, it shall become effective at the end of ten calendar
days from the date it was passed and adopted. If the Mayor vetoes this Resolution, it shall become
effective immediately upon override of the veto by the City Commission.
