Robert E. Chisholm, FAIA, NCARB, (B. Arch
University of Florida 1973, Masters in Urban Design
University of Miami 1977) was formerly a member of the
Metro Dade County Manager's Office in the Office of
Community and Economic Development (OCED) during
the 1970 s. Mr_ Chisholm was lead principal planner in
charge of panning and implementation of capital
improvement projects in several urban neighborhoods.
Mr. Chisholm dealt directly with members of the
Federal, State, County and City governments in
planning, funding and implementation of projects. In
1983 Mr. Chisholm was a finalize candidate for the post
of Assistant Secretary of Transportation for the United
States Department of Transportation under President
Ronald Reagan.
At the urban planning level, Mr. Chisholm has won
national urban design awards for the Park West
National Urban Design Competition and for the Miami
Beach Art Deco District Historic Preservation Master
Plan. The project also won awards of special
recognition at the state level. Since 1975 Mr.
Chisholm has assisted in drafting, planning and
establishing design guidelines for the Little Havana
District. He was appointed to the Latin Quarter
Review Board in which he served as Vice -Chairman
ever a four-year period, he was also Chairman of the
Urban Development Review Board for the City of
Miami. Since the early 1980's, Mr. Chisholm has been
involved in numerous architectural and urban design
projects which include public school design, rapid
transit stations, state laboratories, university facilities,
school facilities, surgical center, commercial centers,
theater and airport facilities; many of the projects have
received design award recognition.
Mr. Chisholm served as President of the
Miami/American Institute of Architects (AIA) in 1992 and
led the National AIA Hurricane Andrew recovery effort
and as a member of We Will Rebuild he later served as
member of the Board of Directors of the State of
Florida/American Institute of Architects in subsequent
years. He was consequently elected as a Fellow in the

American institute of Architects in 1995.
Mr, Chisholm was named to the Board of Directors of
the Community Partnership for the Homeless, Inc.
(CPH) in Dade County, Florida in 1993 and was
chairman of the Design and Construction Committee,
which he designed and completed two prototype
homeless assistance centers (HAG) to assist the 6,000
homeless men, women and children in South Florida.
The first, HAC/1 was selected for an Award of
Excellence in Design by the American Institute of
Architects in 1995 and declared the national model.
Mr. Chisholm was named chairman of the CPH Board
of Director in September, 2005 and currently serves in
that capacity.
R. E. Chisholm Architects, Inc. was named Architectural
Firm of the Year in 1992 and Mr. Robert E. Chisholm
was elected to the College of Fellows of the American
Institute of Architects (FAIA) in 1996, the highest AIA
honor attainable by any member architect for this
150-year-old organization.
In May of 1998, the Everglades Farmworker Villages, a
designed community for 3,000 migrant farmworkers and
families through the United States Department of
Agriculture, received a National Maxwell Award of
Excellence for design from the Fannie Mae Foundation
in Washington, D.C.
in May 1999, R.E. Chisholm Architects, Inc. was named
Entrepreneur of the Year by The South Beach & Greater
Miami Hispanic Chamber of Commerce.
In May, 2001 Mr. Chisholm was awarded the Jubilee
2000 Pontifical Medal by the Vatican and the
Archdiocese of Miami.
In June, 2002, Mr. Chisholm was named Chairman of
the South Florida National Parks Trust, which is part of
the National Parks Foundation, chartered by Congress in
1967 to work directly with the United States National
Parks System and the US Department of Interiors.

In 2006, Mr. Chisholm was selected to receive the
Alvah H. Chapman Jr. Humanitarian of the Year
Award in recognition for leadership in helping the
homeless in Miami -Cade County.
In 2000 Mr. Chisholm received the fvMarch of Dimes
Award for Excellence [fl Architecture in our community
in March 2007, R.E. Chisholm Architects, inc. was
named to the Top 100 Minority Business in Dade
County by the Greater Miami Chamber of Commerce.
In July, 2007, Robert E. Chisholm, FAA received the
State of Florida American Institute of Architects Silver
Medal Award.
in January 2008, Mr. Chisholm was selected to receive
the Ronald McDonald House Twelve Good Men Award
for outstanding community service and involvement.

Richard Meier on the Getty Museum and Center in Los Angeles. He later
collaborated with Frank Israel during a time of extreme experimentation with
materials and fora. In Florida, other internationally recognized
collaborations and projects include the Wolfsonian Museum with Mark
Hampton, FAIA. He has designed and curated museum and gallery
installation for various institutions including the Cisneros Fontanels Art
Foundation, the Miami Art Museum, the Museum of Contemporary Art in
Miami, and the Arango Design Foundation. He has also completed
numerous commercial and residential projects.
Rene's work has been published widely in various industry and consumer
national and international publications, including The New York Times, New
York. The Robb Report, American Airlines Nexos, Architectural Record,
Wallpaper, Metropolis, Metropolitan Home, Interior Design, House and
Garden, Architectural Digest, Oorah at Home, Surface, Frame. Dwell. Azure,
Ocean Drive, Inside Out and The Miami Herald. He has lectured and taught
on architecture, art and design at UCLA, University of Virginia, Florida
International University, Universidad San Francisco de Ecuador, and
Universidad Central de Venezuela. His projects have been exhibited at
national museums and galleries in Miami, Los Angeles and Quito, Ecuador.
Among other honors, he has received an AIA National Honor Award,
Excellence in Architecture Awards from AIA Miami, Metropolitan Home
magazine's Home of the Year Award for design excellence and recently
honored by Conde Nast's House & Garden' as one of 50 designers
internationally that represent the future of design. He has been selected by
a jury of the Smithsonian to the Hispanic Design Archive at the Cooper -
Hewitt National Design Museum in New York, and has beer appointed by
the Mayor and Commissioners of Miami Beach to Chair the Miami Beach
Design Review Board.
In the Miami community, Rene has worked to promote contemporary design
and architecture to the general public by coordinating and sponsoring
exhibitions and lectures, and by serving on Boards and Committees
including serving as President of the Arango Design Foundation.
Rene holds a Master of Architecture degree from UCLA and a Bachelor of
Design degree from the University of Florida. He has received registration
to practice nationally. He is a member of the American Institute of Architects
and a licensed architect in Florida and New York_
