Agency — is synonymous with user and the City of Miami,
Department of Miami Fire -Rescue (MFR) and its members.
Alarm — Alarm, case, and Incident are interchangeable; see Incident
description below.
Backend ePCR Software — backend, server -based software used to
collect, manage, analyze and communicate ePCR data
CAD — Computer Aided Dispatch
Case — A case is the same as an incident
Company — is synonymous with "unit" and stands for a single
company and its crew such as an engine company or aerial company
Custom Reporting System — browser -based report creation,
management, and delivery software that is customized to tightly
integrate with the ePCR System unique data structure.
EMSTARS — Emergency Medical Services Tracking and Reporting
(State of Florida standard)
ePCR — Electronic Patient Care Report
ePCR System — software system as a whole, client and backend,
used to collect, manage, analyze and communicate ePCR data
FRMS — Fire Report Management System
HIPAA - Health Insurance Portability and Accountability Act of 1996.
Incident — An incident is dispatched by the CAD in which a Rescue
or Engine Company responds with the intentions of finding and
treating injured patients.
IR — Incident Report
MDT — Mobil Data Terminal
Mobile ePCR software — software operating on tablet device used in
the field by Report Writer
MVA — Motor vehicle accident
NEMSIS — National EMS Information System
NFIRS — National Fire Incident Reporting System
OIC — Officer in Charge
PCR — Patient Care Report
QA / QM— Quality Assurance / Quality Management
Report Writer — field staff performing entry or editing of ePCR
