HomeMy WebLinkAboutExhibit4City of Miami Legislation Resolution City Hall 3500 Pan American Drive Miami, FL 33133 www.mlamigov.com File Number: 07-00337 Final Action Date: A RESOLUTION OF THE MIAMI CITY COMMISSION ESTABLISHING A NEW SPECIAL REVENUE FUND ENTITLED; "VIOLENCE INTERVENTION PROJECT" AND APPROPRIATING FUNDS IN THE AMOUNT OF $43,500, CONSISTING OF AN AWARD FROM THE CHILDREN'S TRUST THROUGH COMMUNITIES IN SCHOOLS, INC., FOR THE DEPARTMENT OF POLICE ; AUTHORIZING THE CITY MANAGER TO ACCEPT SAID AWARD AND TO EXECUTE THE NECESSARY DOCUMENTS, IN SUBSTANTIALLY THE ATTACHED FORM, TO IMPLEMENT ACCEPTANCE OF SAID AWARD. WHEREAS, the City of Miami ("City") has a strong interest in providing Gang Resistance Education and Training ("GREAT") to elementary and middle school children in the Little Haiti neighborhood of the City; and WHEREAS, Communities in Schools submitted a Violence Intervention Project ("VIP") application to the Children's Trust; and WHEREAS, on February 8, 2007, the City Police Department was notified that the VIP was approved and awarded to Communities in Schools, Inc.; and WHEREAS, the City Police Department was selected to provide GREAT to 690 elementary and middle school youth in Little Haiti for the VIP; and WHEREAS, the City, under a partnership agreement, in substantially the attached form, will be paid $43,500, to provide said services; NOW, THEREFORE, BE IT RESOLVED BY THE COMMISSION OF THE CITY OF MIAMI, FLORIDA: Section 1. The recitals and findings contained in the Preamble to this Resolution are adopted by reference and incorporated as if fully set forth in this Section. Section 2. The following new Special Revenue Fund is established and resources are appropriated as described below: FUND TITLE: Violence Intervention Project RESOURCES: Communities in Schools $43,500 APPROPRIATIONS: Gang Resistance Education and Training to 690 elementary and $43,500 middle school children in the Little Haiti neighborhood of the City City of Miami Page 1 of2 Primed On: 3/1/2007 File Number. 07-00337 Section 3. The City Manager is authorized {1} to execute the necessary documents, in substantially the attached form, to implement acceptance of said grant. Section 4. This Resolution shall become effective immediately upon its adoption and signature of the Mayor.{2} APPRVED AS TO FORM AND'CORRECTNESS: JORG= L. FERNANDEZ Kai CITY? •RNEY Footnotes: {1 } The herein authorization is further subject to compliance with all requirements that may be imposed by the City Attorney, including but not limited to those prescribed by applicable City Charter and Code provisions. {2} If the Mayor does not sign this Resolution, it shall become effective at the end of ten calendar days from the date it was passed and adopted.
