HomeMy WebLinkAboutExhibit2CITY OF MIAMI / DEPARTMENT OF PUBLIC FACILITIES MIAMARINA SEAWALL REPLACEMENT PROJECT — PHASE I PREPARED FEBRUARY 25, 2008 Project Description: To contract for engineering, permitting, construction administration, and related professional services related to the replacement of approximately 953 linear feet of concrete seawall and cap with a steel sheet pile sea wall and concrete cap at the City's Miamarina at Bayside. The existing seawall, approximately 75 yards west of the Atlantic Intracoastal Waterway (AICW) in downtown Miami (at day marker 53B) is over forty years old and is in a state of advanced deterioration to age and harsh environmental conditions. The seawall has cracked and settled in several locations, and the cap is generally cracked and broken, exposing reinforcing. The seawall supports approximately 900 linear feet of public access Baywalk that runs immediately upland of the seawall at Miamarina. This Baywalk is part of a to -be -connected public Baywalk that will allow public access to the city's waterfront along Biscayne Bay, the AICW in downtown Miami, and the Miami River. Project Location: Miamarina at Bayside is located in Biscayne Bay, at day marker 53B on the AICW in downtown Miami. Miamarina's physical address is 401 Biscayne Blvd., Miami, FL 33132. Scope of Work & Specifications: The City shall contract with a professional engineering firm for "phase I" professional services that shall include, but not be limited to: project design; preparation of construction plans, technical specifications, and bid documents; and permitting services. 1. Engineering Design: existing conditions report, to include structural examination of existing seawall and upland tiebacks; benthic and submerged resources mapping; and as -built drawings. 2. Construction Plan Preparation: creation of signed and sealed drawings, construction plans, and bid documents with technical specifications. 3. Permitting Services: determination of regulatory agency permitting requirements; submittal of permit application and exemption paperwork (if applicable); acquisition of final project permits. 4. Construction Oversight & Administration: oversight of construction phase of project, including verification of materials, workmanship, and technical specifications by contractor, and close-out of all permits. Project Cost: With the assistance of local marine/coastal engineering firms, the City has projected the cost of "phase I" services as follows: 1. Engineering Design: $20,000 2. Construction Plan Preparation: $20,000 3. Permitting Services: $20,000 4. Construction Oversight/Administration: $20,000 Total Projected Cost: $80,000
