Subject: Invitation to Bid (IFB) No. 70048, for the Purchase of Tape Cartridges
Purpose of Item:
The purpose of this item is to establish a resolution authorizing the procurement of Tape Cartridges
for the Department of Information Technology from Strategic Technologies, for an initial contract
period of two (2) years with options to renew for three (3) additional one-year periods, allocating
funds from the various sources of funds of the user department, subject to the availability of funds and
budget approval at time of need.
Background Information:
The Purchasing Department has identified a need to establish a contract for Tape Cartridges.
Magnetic tape cartridges are used to archive and store backups of software and data. On January 7,
2008, the Purchasing Department issued Invitation to Bid No. 70048. As required by the Procurement
Code, the IFB was advertised and issued on-line. Bids were due and seven (7) bids were received on-
line, one (1) bid was deemed non -responsive. Strategic Technologies submitted the lowest responsive
and responsible bid and is therefore recommended for award. Estimated annual amount of
,$35,000.
