Thompson City Clerk Date: February 15, 2008 Subj ect: Equal Opportunity Advisory Board References: March 13, 2008 Agenda Enclosures: List of members The Equal Opportunity Advisory Board was created to review and recommend to the City Commission the adoption of amendments/revisions to the City's affirmative action plan. The board also reviews employment policies and practices of the City and makes recommendations to the Department of Employee Relations. Five (5) appointments are required at this time: • Chair Sanchez has one (1) nomination for a seat currently held by: 1. Rebeca Alvarez -Mena, incumbent, whose term expired July 12, 2007 and who has exceeded the number of allowed absences (8 absences in 2007), would require a 4/5ths waiver of attendance.* • Vice Chair Spence -Jones has one (1) nomination for a seat currently held by: 1. Anthony Cutler, incumbent, whose term expired December 13, 2007, has exceeded the number of allowed absences (3 consecutive absences in 2007) and would require a 4/5ths waiver of attendance. • Commissioner Gonzalez has one (1) nomination for a seat currently held by: 1. Vacancy (due to the resignation of Albena Sumner). * • Commissioner Sarnoff has two (2) nominations for seats currently held by: 1. Wilfred Pierre, incumbent, whose term expired January 10, 2008, has exceeded the number of allowed absences (7 absences in 2007) and would require a 4/5ths waiver of attendance. 2. Yvonne McDonald, incumbent, whose term expired on January 10, 2008. For your convenience, we are including a copy of the current membership of said board. By copy of this memorandum, we are requesting the Agenda Office to place this issue on the March 13, 2008 Commission agenda. *This matter was deferred from the June 14, 2007, September 11, 2007, October 11, 2007, November 9, 2007, January 10, 2008 and February 14, 2008 Commission meetings.
