HomeMy WebLinkAboutLegislationCity of Miami Legislation Resolution City Hall 3500 Pan American Drive Miami, FL 33133 www.miamigov.com File Number: 08-00208 Final Action Date: A RESOLUTION OF THE MIAMI CITY COMMISSION, ESTABLISHING A NEW SPECIAL REVENUE PROJECT ENTITLED: "CITY OF MIAMI, DEPARTMENT OF PARKS AND RECREATION, PROGRAMS FOR PERSONS WITH DISABILITIES PROJECT SEARCH MIAMI," AND APPROPRIATING FUNDS, IN THE AMOUNT OF $10,000, CONSISTING OF A GRANT AWARD RECEIVED FROM THE FLORIDA DEVELOPMENTAL DISABILITIES COUNCIL, INC., FOR THE PURPOSE OF FUNDING TRAVEL AND PROGRAM RELATED EXPENSES ASSOCIATED WITH THE IMPLEMENTATION OF SAID PROGRAM; AUTHORIZING THE CITY MANAGER TO ACCEPT SAID GRANT AWARD AND TO EXECUTE THE NECESSARY DOCUMENTS, TO IMPLEMENT ACCEPTANCE OF SAID GRANT. WHEREAS, the City of Miami ("City"), through the Department of Parks and Recreation, has been selected by the Florida Developmental Disabilities Council, Inc. to receive funding as one of five pilot sites in the State of Florida, for the implementation of a national acclaimed program called "Project Search" that teaches marketable job training and social skills for youths with disabilities at several City worksite locations; and WHEREAS, the grant award of $10,000 will be specifically used to provide travel and program related expenses associated with the implementation of said program; NOW, THEREFORE, BE IT RESOLVED BY THE COMMISSION OF THE CITY OF MIAMI, FLORIDA: Section 1. The recitals and findings contained in the Preamble to this Resolution are adopted by reference and incorporated as if fully set forth in this Section. Section 2. The following new Special Revenue Project is established and resources are appropriated as described below: FUND TITLE: City of Miami, Parks and Recreation Department, Programs for Persons with Disabilities Project Search Miami Program RESOURCES: State of Florida Developmental Disabilities Council, Inc. $10,000 APPROPRIATIONS: City of Miami, Parks and Recreation Department, Programs for Persons with Disabilities Project Search Miami Program $10,000 Section 3. The City Manager is authorized{1} to accept said grant award and to execute the necessary documents, to implement acceptance of said grant. Section 4. CH0 le-AAk INTERIM CITY ATTORNEY Footnotes: {1} The herein authorization is further subject to compliance with all requirements that may be imposed by the City Attorney, including but not limited to those prescribed by applicable City Charter and Code provisions. {2} If the Mayor does not sign this Resolution, it shall become effective at the end of ten calendar days from the date it was passed and adopted.
