HomeMy WebLinkAboutLegislationCity of Miami Legislation Resolution City Hall 3500 Pan American Drive Miami, FL 33133 www.miamigov.com File Number: 08-00203 Final Action Date: A RESOLUTION OF THE MIAMI CITY COMMISSION, WITH ATTACHMENT(S), ACCEPTING TWO GRANT AWARDS, IN AN AGGREGATE NOT TO EXCEED AMOUNT OF $650,000, FROM THE STATE DEPARTMENT OF ENVIRONMENTAL PROTECTION, FOR DRAINAGE IMPROVEMENT PROJECTS, CONSISTING OF $250,000, FOR THE FAIRLAWN STORM SEWER PUMP STATION - PHASE III, PROJECT B-50704 AND $400,000, FOR THE MIAMI FLAGAMI/WEST END STORM SEWERS IMPROVEMENTS -PHASE II, PROJECT B-50695; AUTHORIZING THE CITY MANAGER TO EXECUTE THE NECESSARY DOCUMENTS, IN SUBSTANTIALLY THE ATTACHED FORM(S), TO IMPLEMENT THE ACCEPTANCE OF AND ADMINISTRATION OF SAID GRANTS; ALLOCATING THE REQUIRED MATCHING FUNDS, IN THE AMOUNT OF $250,000, FROM PROJECT B-50704, AND IN THE AMOUNT OF $400,000, FROM PROJECT B-50695. WHEREAS, the City of Miami ("City") has established capital improvement projects to improve the drainage in various communities throughout the City; and WHEREAS, said projects have been incorporated into the City's Capital Improvement Program and Multi -year Plan; and WHEREAS, the City applied for and received two grants from the Florida Department of Environmental Protection ("DEP") for drainage improvement projects; and WHEREAS, the grant awards require matching funds from the City; and WHEREAS, a $250,000, grant was awarded for the Fairlawn Storm Sewer Pump -Phase III with matching funds available from Project B-50704; and WHEREAS, a $400,000, grant was awarded for the Miami Flagami/West End Storm Sewers Improvements with matching funds available from Project B-50695; and WHEREAS, the DEP awards must be formally accepted and appropriated by the City; and WHEREAS, this item authorizes the City Manager to execute the necessary documents to accept and administer the grants; and WHEREAS, the funds will be appropriated by a separate Resolution; NOW, THEREFORE, BE IT RESOLVED BY THE COMMISSION OF THE CITY OF MIAMI, FLORIDA: City of Miami Page 1 of 2 Printed On: 2/22/2008 File Number: 08-00203 Section 1. The recitals and findings contained in the Preamble to this Resolution are adopted by reference and incorporated as if fully set forth in this Section. Section 2. Two grant awards, in an aggregate not to exceed amount of $650,000, from DEP, for drainage improvement projects, consisting of $250,000, for the Fairlawn Storm Sewer Pump Station -Phase I11, Project B-50704 and $400,000, for the Miami Flagami/West End Storm Sewers Improvements -Phase II, Project b-50695, are accepted. Section 3. The City Manager is authorized{1} to execute the necessary documents, in substantially the attached form(s), to implement the acceptance of and administration of said grants. Section 4. The required matching funds, in the aggregate not to exceed amount of $650,000, are allocated, in the amount of $250,000, from Project B-50704, and in the amount of $400,000, from Project B-50695. Section 5. This Resolution shall become effective immediately upon its adoption and signature of the Mayor.(2) APPROVED AS TO FORM AND CORRECTNESS: • MARIA J. CHIO Kk" INTERIM CITY ATTORNEY P Footnotes: {1} The herein authorization is further subject to compliance with all requirements that may be imposed by the City Attorney, including but not limited to those prescribed by applicable City Charter and Code provisions. {2} If the Mayor does not sign this Resolution, it shall become effective at the end of ten calendar days from the date it was passed and adopted.
