HomeMy WebLinkAboutR-08-0067City of Miami Legislation Resolution: R-08-0067 City Hall 3500 Pan American Drive Miami, FL 33133 www.miamigov.com File Number: 08-00119 Final Action Date: 2/14/2008 A RESOLUTION OF THE MIAMI CITY COMMISSION ESTABLISHING A NEW SPECIAL REVENUE FUND ENTITLED: "BUFFER ZONE PROTECTION PROGRAM GRANT" AND APPROPRIATING FUNDS, IN THE AMOUNT OF $188,999.40, CONSISTING OF A GRANT FROM THE DEPARTMENT OF HOMELAND SECURITY, OFFICE OF DOMESTIC PREPAREDNESS TO THE STATE OF FLORIDA DEPARTMENT OF LAW ENFORCEMENT; AUTHORIZING THE CITY MANAGER TO DESIGNATE THE CHIEF OF POLICE TO EXECUTE THE NECESSARY DOCUMENTS, TO IMPLEMENT ACCEPTANCE OF SAID GRANT. WHEREAS, the Network Access Point ("NAP") of the Americas has been identified as a critical infrastructure site and key resource that meets Buffer Zone Protection Plan criteria; and WHEREAS, the City of Miami ("City") has been awarded a grant, in the amount of $188,999.40, for the funding of equipment to be used to protect, secure, and reduce the vulnerability of the NAP of the Americas located in Downtown Miami, Florida, which has been identified as a critical infrastructure site and a key resource location to support the implementation of Florida's Homeland Security Strategy; and WHEREAS, the United States Department of Homeland Security has awarded the State of Florida funding for the Buffer Zone Protection Program and the Regional Security Task Force allocated the City the amount of $188,999.40; and WHEREAS, any purchases would have to comply with applicable purchasing requirements of the Code of the City of Miami, Florida, as amended; NOW, THEREFORE, BE IT RESOLVED BY THE COMMISSION OF THE CITY OF MIAMI, FLORIDA: Section 1. The recitals and findings contained in the Preamble to this Resolution are adopted by reference and incorporated as if fully set forth in this Section. Section 2. The following new Special Revenue Fund is established and resources are appropriated as described herein: FUND TITLE: Buffer Zone Protection Program Grant RESOURCES: Department of Homeland Security $188,999.40 Office of Domestic Preparedness APPROPRIATION: Necessary expenses to protect, secure $188,999.40 and reduce the vulnerability of the NAP of the Americas City of Miami Page 1 of 2 File Id: 08-00119 (Version: 1) Printed On: 4/26/2017 File Number: 08-00119 Enactment Number: R-08-0067 Section 3. The City Manager is authorized{1} to designate the Chief of Police to execute the necessary documents to implement acceptance of said grant. Section 4. The Department of Police is authorized to expend monies from this Special Revenue Fund for the operation of said Program. Section 5. This Resolution shall become effective immediately upon its adoption and signature of the Mayor. {2} Footnotes: {1} The herein authorization is further subject to compliance with all requirements that ma be imposed by the City Attorney, including but not limited to those prescribed by applicable City Charter and Code provisions. {2} If the Mayor does not sign this Resolution, it shall become effective at the end of ten calendar days from the date it was passed and adopted. If the Mayor vetoes this Resolution, it shall become effective immediately upon override of the veto by the City Commission.
