Dear Ms. Ason:
Rjnf.31i/Cj'! Of S jarii:
co.
The purpose of this letter is to request an extension on the commencement of construction for the two lots we
acquired from the City of Miami for the purpose of Affordable Housing in Wynwood. The two lots are 98 NW 27"'
Street and 3511 NW 1 Avenue. (See attached deeds)
The reason for our request is due to the fact that as of yet we have not been able to obtain a final permit. We
submitted our plans to building and zoning last June 2006 and still to date have not been able to obtain the permits
— it was only last Friday, August 24, 2007 that I was asked to record the restrictive covenant which I did
immediately. To the best of my understanding, our plans fell victim to the staff shortage of the building and zoning
department last summer, endless changes on the same plans that had been permitted only 12 months before, and
several different requests for covenants to be recorded which seemed to cause enormous delays; we even had to get
our attorney involved. (See attached Covenants)
At this time, we anticipate that we should be able to receive the permits no later than October 2007, should that be
the case we have attached a copy of our proposed work schedule for the project. However, it is important to note
that the Empowerment Trust will be paying for the construction of these homes and due to their separation from
Miami Dade County we have been asked to not to expend any money on their projects until the separation is
complete. (See attached EZ letter.)
We respectfully request that you extend the commencement of construction for an additional year. Should you
require any additional information please let us know.
As always, thank you for your continued support and leadership.
Sincerely,
/
