Ordinance ❑ Emergency Ordinance ❑ Discussion Item Other Subject: FL Dept of Environmental Protection FRDAP Grant Application "Morningside Pool Improvements" Purpose of Item: The Department of Parks and Recreation is seeking funds from the Florida Department of Environmental Protection (FDEP) Florida Recreation Development Assistance Program (FRDAP) to support improvements to the pool facility at Morningside Park, Funds are requested to conduct improvements to the pool's interior surface, the filtration system, the heating system, and the plumbing system. FDEP requires that entities requesting funds through FRDAP include a resolution certifying that the City will amend its existing CIP plan to include the project if the grant is selected for funding. This resolution covers that requirement. Background Information: The City of Miami and the Department of Parks and Recreation have established that teaching all residents to swim is a high priority in the interest of resident satisfaction and overall safety, The completion of this project will ensure that the pool continues to operate safely and appropriately.
