Subject: Fairlawn Storm Sewer Improvements, Phase IIB, B-50703
Purpose of Item:
To accept the bid and authorize execution of an agreement w���ith Metro Express, Inc., the lowest �������
responsive and responsible bidder, pursuant to Invitation for Bids No. 06-07-012, received October 9,
2007, for the project entitled "Fairlawn Storm Sewer Improvements, Phase IIB, B-50703," in the
amount of $1,715,092.00 for the scope of work, plus an additional $171,509.20 owner contingency,
for a total not to exceed contract amount of $1,886,601.20, with funds allocated from CIP Project No.
B-50703.
Background Information:
Thirteen bids were received and opened by the Office of the City Clerk on October 9, 2007, at 2:00
p.m, pursuant to formal Invitation for Bids No. 06-07-012, issued September 06, 2007, for the
"Fairlawn Storm Sewer Improvement Project, Phase IIB, B-50703." Metro Express, Inc., is the
lowest responsive and responsible bidder, with a bid amount of $1,715,092.00 for the scope of work.
The scope includes construction of a storm sewer system that includes exfiltration trenches, cross
drains, surface restoration, and maintenance of traffic. This project may also include road
improvements such as roadway milling and resurfacing, re -sodding of swales, damaged sidewalk
replacement, damaged curb and gutter replacement, and ADA compliant ramps of the affected roads
by the drainage construction. The location of the project is the area bounded by NW 7th St., W.
Flagler St., NW 57 Ave., and NW 52 Ave. This project is funded with Street Bonds which are
scheduled to be appropriated on December 13th by separate resolution.
