Requesting Department: Purchasing for Police
District Impacted: All
Type: Resolution ❑ Ordinance n Emergency Ordinance ❑ Discussion Item
❑ Other
Subject: Police Uniforms and Accessories
Purpose of Item:
The nature of this item is to establish a contract for Police Uniforms and Accessories, on an as needed
basis, from Harrison Uniforms, for an initial period of one (1) year with options to renew for four (4)
additional one-year periods, allocating funds from the various sources of funds of the user department,
subject to the availability of funds and budget approval at time of need.
Background Information:
The Police Department must provide uniforms and accessories for its sworn and civilian employees.
On September 24, 2007, the Purchasing Department issued Invitation for Bids (IFB) No. 45014,1. As
required by the Procurement Code, the IFB was advertised and issued on-line. Bids were due and one
(1) bid was received on October 22, 2007. Harrison Uniforms submitted the lowest responsive and
responsible bid and is therefore recommended for award. A cost comparison between the prior
contract pricing and the pricing under this solicitation has revealed that the new contract will yield an
approximate 16.53% (as per Attachment A) savings on heavily used items to the City. The
estimated annual contract amount is $2,047,894.38 and estimated total contract amount is
$10,872,549.80.
