Re: Medtec Ambulance Unit 7075
Toni;
After dose inspection of the City of Miami unit 7075 at Ten-8 Fire Equipment,
Medtec Ambulance would like bo offer this summary of condition and repair for
your review.
As you are aware, the damage sustained to the right front corner of the module
was extensive. The damage was transmitted through the roof, front bulk head
waN, right side, and lower rocker panel. Witness marts are apparent on the
frame members and mounting assemblies, and the module has been stressed
through the left rear of the vehicle. The right front cab door suffered minor
damage; however the chassis appears to be largely reusable.
The medium duty chassis selection serves as a durable, heavy duty-cyde
apparatus, and the highly customized conversion holds value unlike other
commesdal or consumer grade vehides. Furthermore, the few miles that the
unit has accumulated allows for mounting a new module versus a replacement
unit in whole, saving substantial dollars over a complete vehicle replacement
Estimates provided by Ten-8 Are Equipment to the City of Miami have specified
credits for items that have a high probability of reuse from the damaged unit It
is Medtec's position that we will reuse as many components as possible to
rnlnknize the expense of the final repair. Careful evaluation of each
option/component to determine component condition, as well as reuse/replace
analysis wNI determine the best value for the repair.
Utilizing Medtec Ambulance Corporationfor this repair will ultimately yield
maximum value to the City of Miami. Medtec Ambulance Corporation will apply a
new vehicle conversion warranty* from the date of returned in-service. This
includes a 12 month/12,000 mile base warranty", lifetime module structural
warranty", 10 year prorated paint warranty", and lifetime electrical warranty".
19,
Additionally, Medtec Ambulance recommends, designs and builds ambulances
according to the Federal Specifications for Ambulances, KKK A-1822E, to insure
the safety, functionality and reliability of the emergency vehicle. Repairing this
unit under this strict standard will provide insurances that this unit will function
as it is intended and deliver services to the City of Miami for many years to
come.
Finally, Medtec Ambulance Corporation is a wholly owned subsidiary of Oshkosh
Truck Corporation specializing in custom vehicles, bodies and conversions. Our
dedication to the severe duty markets, strict design engineering, advanced
manufacturing techniques and specialized conversions, and with our strong
financial backing will provide the City of Miami with the peace of mind that the
repaired unit will meet the durability requirements that your community deserves
and requires.
With approval from the City of Miami, the unit will be transported from Florida to
Goshen Indiana, where the module will be removed and chassis can be
evaluated. At that time, if a frame repair is necessary, chassis repairs and the
right front chassis door will be repaired, and the conversion will take place. The
completion of the conversion will take approximately 180 days from receipt of
the chassis, at which time the unit will be ready for your inspection and
acceptance.
